I have read most of the reviews on here and have choosen this as my first project for the fall. This is my first real airplane had small cheap 2 channel mirco for a short time.

I could use some help with selecting a flight pack. I looked at the standard GWS flight pack for it. But im thinking of getting LiPo's right away but there alittle $$$$$$

I was thinking of using this setup
3-GWS Servo Naro Pro(secound choose is HS-55's)
2-Cell 7.4V 830mAh LiPo(standard flight pack has 9.6 750mAH NiMH)
Great Planes ElectriFly 4Ch FM Rx 72MHz Hi(its only rated for 4.8 to 6volts but i cant find one rated for more )

Also im still trying to deside between a Futaba 6exa or a Hitec Optic 6 Spectra LHS dosent carry Hitec only Futaba and JR for some reason so Im having a hard time choosing couse i really like the Spectra feature of the Hitec. Any input about these two would be great

Comments suggestions about this setup?

Thanks

I am in the same situation. Though I was considering the GWS Beaver and the Futaba 4EXa Micro. I have a MRC Superbrain 969 that can charge NiMh or LiPO. Though I would need a smaller pack as the standard pack for the beaver is 7.2 volts and 270 mah.

Hi,
There is one thing that needs to go on your list. That is an ESC (speed control). You will want one with a 10A rating. Meanwhile there is a circuit in the ESC reffered to as the BEC (battery eliminator circuit) that will supply your receiver with a regulated 5V regardless of the voltage in your power pack. This little jewel plugs into ch 3 of the receiver, and receives the signal for speed change as well as supplying the power for the receiver and servos.

I didn't mention ESC as I am considering brushless power as well.

Hi,
You will still need an ESC, just a different sort to match the brushless motor.

Get the GWS flight pack for the plane. It makes things easy. If they have a flight pack with a 6 channel reciever get that one as the 4 channel only has a 500 foot range and that plane can get beyond 500 feet pretty fast.

Is this your plane?

This would be a good flight pack:

OR

While I always recommend computer radios, this starter package might just be simpler. Includes radio and all for $125. This radio can later become your controller for your flight simulator, or you can use it as a buddy box to help train others.

that woudl be the plane and all for under $200. Add the GWS 2002 charger for $50 and you are all set.

You can reuse this radio for the next plane, or step up to the computer radio at that time. The radio is only about $30 in this package so consider it a small price to pay for convenience.
