Well, after experimenting with my 10T in my TC3, and some exessively high gear ratios ;) , I got my car to go roughly 55 or so MPH. I did a few runs, checked the motor, and it was fine (warm but fine :D ). After concluding that my cooling holes in my CLK-GTR body were successful (just made them today), I did a few more runs. After one pass I started to turn around and the car suddenly slipped out of control.
*Can anyone guess what happened next?*
Yep. Broken part. I hit the curb at a bit less than 40 mph with the left rear of the car. The hub carrier snapped (nice and cleanly too, if I may add  )
To be frank, I don't know why I'm not upset. Maybe I was waiting for a trip to the hobby shop, or maybe I was just expecting this to happen... Anyways, It happened. And, I just recently bought hub carriers for the front (but they came with rear ones too in the package) because of a stripped screwhole.
I had my share of fun, and will be more careful when rippin' it down the street at 50+ MPH at midnight....
---A pic is attached(hopefully works), but since I can only post one at a time I'll post another later w/ the body off, when I'm sure that A) I've done it right and B) people can see it :) .
Cheers,
-Dave

Ouch... Good speed though if I may say so myself :)
Your picture works fine, but its sorta small...

Lol. Well the speed was nice, uncontrollably fast, when I go over a sewer or something, the car just takes off.... hehe
The pic is small because its taken on a Webcam  .. Sry.
I'll take some more with the body off in the morning, Its pretty dark so the lighting would be horrible.

Heres one with body off, showing a nice 2-peice rear hub carrier. (notice the bearing showing  )

Here's another; a close up for those who can't see my extremely small pictures.... :)

Luckily that was the only thing that broke. Looks cool though

I actually was laughing when I saw that something broke. It was so highly anticipated. On a side note, another neat thing I noticed was that the tires only show a 0.5cm mark of wear and dirt on them -- looks like at that speed the tires were ballooning like crazy!
Enjoying my stupidity,

Ah, complications.... Upon taking the car apart for examination, I discovered a snapped CVD, and a bearing whose outer ring just torn in half. EST $30.00+ Damage... so far

^^^ I was going to say, with that much damage to the carrier, the bearing might be toast. Sorry to hear about that, but good luck finding replacements and getting that speed demon back out on the road.

Yeah, thanks.
It was the outermost bearing that was shown in the picture that got damaged, and the CVD's cross pin hole just well is not a hole anymore.... I superguled it back together, but can never be sure enough to trust it and just put it in my car again.... What if it doesnt hold and the car looses acceleration on one rear wheel? That is an accident waiting to happen. I think I'll be better off just buying some new, stronger aluminum ones.

Looks like my B3 after a typical run

Ahh.... reminds me of when I was chasing speed. In bearings, a arms, shock towers, body, and fried ESC, I Spent more than $200 fixing something that under normal use cost about $9 a week to maintain three TC3's. I think my driving skills has increased to the point where curbs do not jump out as often or my car wedges snug under a car Tire. Car tires are very bad, not only do you lose a arms, you lose shock towers, and deeply scratch a chassis.
So my Brushless motor just sets on my desk..waiting for a new project.

I'm just always curious to see how fast I could go with a certain combo of items such as a motor + battery, for example. It always amazed me that such a vehicle can attain speeds like this, so I always enjoy driving them at these speeds. So here I am

same way, however, i found that a home made micro-switch speed control, a 12x3, and 2 packs bridged equal a VERY fast stampede! :D...and a pricey trip to the hobby shop.......but hey, we all push the envelope with our cars, for what you hit at the speed you did, you didnt do too bad there.....

Yeah, come to think of it it's not that bad - could have been a LOT worse, and I'm grateful my electronics are still alive :)
I didn't upgrade my chassis at all though, everything except electronics and setup is stock; and it can still handle things like this (apart from hard crashes)?! Kudos RC manufacturers!!!
