OK, this isn't exactly a boat but it's powered like one so I thought some of you more experienced guys might be able to help out. I am building an AIRCAR (basically a car powered by an airboat prop that pushes from the rear the same way an airboat works) and woud love some feedback/ answers/ ideas: First of all, is there such thing as an electric airboat that I could use the motor mount from (and if not any ideas how to mount an electric motor in airboat fashion?) Secondly, do airboat props differ from airplane props designed to push from the rear?)
ANY IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

years ago cox had an aircar(used a guide line) that ran an .049 nitro engine mounted in a pusher config. also used a 3-bladed prop(pusher). have not looked into airplane props of late, but would expect that conventional tractor props may be easier to find. as for the mount...that would depend on whether you're gonna use a gear box or not. if not , well there is only a couple of ways to mount an elect motor :)

I think that it was Midwest (it was a long time ago) that had the Puddle Jumper, an airboat with wheels on it. It wasn't the greatest thing around but it would roll on the ground and float. I suppose that an airboat could be converted with some work. The steering could be tricky as you could use the front wheels, ala the Amphicar or use air rudders and a castor wheel configuation on the front.
Don't use wood props! They will splinter when they hit the water.
