I see that I can save alot of money when it comes to buying hi-performance batteries, if I buy them unassembled. Is it fairly easy to assemble them? I am efficient with a soldering iron.

Do the bars make a difference, or can I buy the cheaper ones? Any tips on how to do a good job, like a home made rig to hold the batteries in place? I do not want to have to buy an aftermarket item, just to hold cells while I solder.

Also, I read that I can put ShooGoo, between the Batteries to help keep them together(side-by-sides) Can I also put the goo over the contacts, so they won't have a chance of shorting??

buy a cheap battery jig from duratrax there real cheap and deans battery bars i just tape my batterys together instead of glue because you may eventualy want them a part and shoegoo turns yellow after a couple of months

Well, I can't be of much help, as I am going to build my first pack as soon as the stuff gets here. I did buy the Deans rig to hold the batteries.

I was considering covering the bars/ends of cells with that liquid electrical tape, it is like shoe goo but designed to cover exposed electrical connections.

if you are going to use shoe goo to glue the cells together make sure you shrink wrap the individual cells first. I've been looking for shoe goo II but i found some stuff called zap-a-dap-a-goo-II which is the same thing. Trinity cells packs of 100 indivual pieces of srink wrap for $5. If you shrink wrap the batterys before you glue you can take them apart later. it is worth it to buy a jig for the batteries there are many different kinds depending on your budget. The difference between the bars is electrical resistance. They dont make much difference so you can use the cheap ones. Some older bateries(1400-1700) require bars with a flat negative side. As far as any tips on building batteries there is an article on it in june 2000 rcca.
