The Time Old question from Newbies. Just messin with you Mike :D
If you feel your ready to take on Nitro, and be willing to learn how to turn you eng. and learn what you need to the Nitro can be real fun. Most ppl that start this hobby go to Electric (which is smart in my opinion). I say this because you see a new guy with a fresh Nitro Truck/Buggie/Car and he can't keep it started. He dumps the hobby all at once because its a pain and he/she doesn't want to deal with it. This isn't the case with all but its just too common.
Performence wise Nitro is faster but the Electric guys can be as fast but can not last as long due to the fact they can run longer....when low on gas fill er up and keep going.
Hope I help in some way. Get the truck running Mike.....ill smoke ya!

Well alternately, you can just "fill up" an electric by just swapping batteries. ;)

Well, if you want raw nitro power and the smell of nitro and the screams the engine makes and want something more authentic to the real trucks then get a nitro. They're awesome. I got one as my first r/c car and haven't had too many problems with the engine, only problems with the drivetrain trying to handle all the power the engine puts out. Learn how to tune an engine and carbuerator and you got it made. No more dead batteries. Just fill up the tank and go, and you can fill it up while it's running. Also, learn how to maintain the engine and rebuild it which is easy because they're only 3 moving parts. Best thing about electric is that the power output is linear throughout the rpm range and it generally has more torque so you can pop wheelies easier. Both are great types of cars though.
