I have a Losi MF 2 equippe dwiht the following and I cant figure out why I only get two or three minutes of run time per charge. I also notice excessive heat.

-Trinity 3300 factory assembled packs (2, both give same result)
-Super Rooster ESC
-Trinity P4 8 turn Single motor
-All 14 awg wiring
-Deans connectors throughout
-No noticeable drag in drivetrain
-14 tooth pinion

I appreciate your time.

No the motor is sick, but you are ok. Sounds like you are severely under geared try a 16 tooth and go up a tooth at a time until you are able to get 5 minutes of more of runtime, and the motor temps 175F or lower at the end of a run. But I think the biggest problem is your speed control, I run a Novak GT7 on my MF 1 and has an on resistance of 0.00058 as were the Super Rooster has .004 foward/.002 brake. Try this stuff out see if that helps, I would recommend the GT7 I just bought one and I would say it is better than the GTX as far as a speed control goes for a off road truck.

An 8turn single is only something that I would use in oval racing. Plus you didn't mention the spur size. Normally for modified offroad you use a larger spur 87-95 with the appropiate pinion which could be anywhere from 17-20 maybe a 21 depending on size of the area you are running in. P94 tend to be very inefficient motors, flatwire more so than a roundwire. To gain more runtime make adjustments to your gearing then try decreasing the timing by 2-5 degree increments. Then when you get about the right runtime, if vehicle seems a little slow go up one tooth but maintain the same timing.
It may also be time to do some maintenance on that motor, clean and check the condition of brushes. Try changing them to something with less silver if you aren't racing like the 4380's, use two purple springs if you keep the timing as it came or try a purple on pos, red on neg if timing if 18 degrees or less. Also charge the pack between 4.50 - 5.00 amps and be sure to properly discharge the packs when you are doing runnng them, give them time to cool before attempting to recharge them.
