Why does everyone constanly bash Duratrax? Me and friend own a Axis and a MaxMT and they have been very reliable and tough.Trust me we put our RC's through the ringer and each time they have always held up.I think that my Axis has held up better than my Nitro Stampede.I think they make good products and yet everyone still thinks that they are junk.I am so sick of the bashing that goes on.I wonder what would have happened if Losi or AE had low cost cars would people think that they are junk? Or is it that because they have a big name is the reason no one picks on them.I use to know people at one time that would never buy Traxxas for one reason or another and now I think that role has changed to Duratrax.I guess being the new kid on the block you are going to get picked on.Well thanks for letting me ramble and if anyone still has a good reason let me know.
Thanks

It's the "I own this brand of car and everything else is junk" syndrome or the "If it's not a pure race machine then it's a piece of junk" elitest theory. Your pick.

I don't think ne one has a good reason, their cars/trucks look good, I don't see why the put downs on them are necessary, with their 6 month stress test and all it looks like they stand behind their product and have good customer service. I guess it is because they are the new kid on the block so I guess until someone else comes along they are gonna take hits. But of course thats just my opinion. ;) Thanks for listening :D

This is gonna make some people mad, but oh well, heres the way I see it. Most of these guys who slam Duratrax, Traxxas, and some other companies have never even ran one of these RC's. They think that since there not a brand thats winning races all the time, then there junk.
Unfortunately these are people who "Think" they know all there is to know about RC and the Brands there in. If these guys would actually run one of these brands I believe they would change there tune.
I admit, that as far as Duratrax RC's go I was one who was sure they were junk, until a friend of mine bought a Max ST. I helped him break in the engine and I tuned it for him. I found the little mill included with these Duratrax trucks to be quite impressive.
I talked him into putting on some good Pro-Line Tires and after some suspension tuning he was running with and beating guys who race Associated and Losi Trucks.
Its been over a year now and roughly 4 gallons of fuel later and his Max ST is still running strong.
Everyone has a opinion, and thats great, if they know what their talking about. After 17 years of racing RC's and 11 years of racing Nitro, i've learned that you need to take what the "know it all's" say with a grain of salt, and stick with what you already know. :p

I'm a biggy on Duratrax products... but not on there car kits... they are all nitro kits... if duratrax has an electric sedan, then i buy one... traxxas is another, although i was leery about traxxas, the horror stories i been hearing... so that kinda soaked into me... but lately i have been over looking all those stories... i still want a traxxas 4-tec... the electric version(dont quite have the funds at this moment) but i sure would like to add it to my other collection... i like duratrax for it's chargers... so how bout an electric sedan kit? :D :p

DerekB, my hat is completely off to you!!! That is the best post I have ever read from an R/C expert. In a word, there is nothing wrong with Duratrax, or Traxxas or any other brand. It's all about fun guys and whatever floats your boat!!! Listen to DerekB, that is the wisest comment any one has ever made on these boards.

I've never personally run a Duratrax, but it's just cuz ppl I know bash on them. I trust these people's opinions, and so I beleive the same. I have been a die hard Traxxas fan since I first came in this hobby 5 years ago, and both my RC cars are Traxxas. I do like the Duratrax Pro versions of the MT and ST. You don't see any other companies coming out with versions of cars with full hop ups like that. I know Losi and AE do that, but those are race trucks, and they aren't more dedicated to the basher crowd.

<---- has a reason not to like duratrax....not a good reason but its a reason. the duratrax spur gears and clutchbells are made of this durable plastic junk and when the spur gear flexes your gear gets chewed...as i said it isnt a good reason because 10 bucks later the problem is fixed

I at one point held the common belief that traxxas'es were junk(after owning a rustler and a 4tec) I then bought a b3. I then realized how great traxxas cars really are. I guess you could say peer pressure(evil peer pressure!) causes people to think that way. When I realized how great their cars actually were, I bought a Stampede. I love this car. Its as fast as a stadium truck, almost handles as good, and has twice the suspension of a stadium truck. Who can build a monster truck like that? No one, except traxxas. I really like the evader, I wish it was out when I bought my fisrt truck(1998, rustler)
