Hi all!

I've been out of the hobby for a long time,... I used to race a hopped up Tamiya Big Wig back in the day (mid to late 80's).

I've decided to re-enter the hobby and just bought a hardly used T-Maxx from a friend. It has pull start and racing exhaust. This is my first nitro experience http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I set myself up a nice bench and work area and now I need to acquire a nice toolbox and some dedicated tools. I need to start learning what makes this thing tick since it's the first RC I've driven that I didn't have to build first LOL

If someone can recommend a great toolbox and the important tools I would appreciate it!

thanks in advance

papertowels, small flathead screwdriver, zip ties, loctite, loctite, and some more loctite, tire wrenches, glow plug wrench, needle nose, tape, funnel (for pouring nitro fuel from gallon into fuel bottle), and an assortment of common screws nuts and stuff like that. this is some of the stuff i have in my box. and extra batteries. oh yeah, if you use a glowstarter and not the ez start, i recommend getting an alkaline glow starter. it is frustrating when you are about to race and you realize the glow starter needs charging!! talk about disappointing, trust me i know!!!

For a toolbox, I use a tackle box, and just put rc related stickers on it so it doesnt look like a tacklebox.

An assortment of pliers(3), good set of screwdrivers(4), a set of allen balldrivers, spare parts, (not neccesery but comes in handy)spare engine, nitro wash, WD-40, oil(all kinds, shock, after run, bearing, all purpose)and saftey goggles. These are just a few key elements in my tacklebox. I learned most of these at the track. It's pretty funny, I wa in a race one time, engine blewout, no engine. samething happened later but no allen wrenches, DDOOHH!! http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/cool.gif

I found a GREAT toolbox for this past christmas. It's a plano 7592

I totally love it. I bought it online for around $30.

The important tools I would go for are some nice allen drivers (well worth the dough), good needlenose pliers, some channel-lock pliers, and the right sockets for your truck.

I bought a large tool box from crafstman for $40. It has wheels and an extendable handle. It can fit all of my tires and wheels, all of my motor sprays, tools batteries, spare parts, a folder of instuction manuals and decals, soldering iron, and transmitters. I also have one of the planno box's like narb;s only a little smaller. I built a battery charging station in the top (it has a large cpu fan in the front to cool off the charger and ventelation holes in the back that allow my apex sigma plus to blow the air out the back with it's built-in cpu fans so there is always air flowing over the charger. I built it last night, I love it http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif !) I also store all of my hardwhere in the bottom trays. All i have to take to the track is these two box's and my veicles.

I got this big tool box at, beleive it or no, costco. Its great. the best toolbox ive owned for rc stuff. its big its on wheels so u can pull it behind you. it has a thing on the back so you can wrap and extension cord to it and mount a power pannel to it to so u can hook up a charger and a dremel and a bunch of other things to it. it seperates into 2 seperate tool boxes. with snap on compartments and each seperate box has a pull out top part that holds loose parts. This box is big enough to hold my drill, dremel sodering iron, charger and all my random tools. and 3 sets of tires for my mugen.
tha basics:
aside from a good set of hexes, screwdrivers, engine tuning screw, glowpug/cross wrench, a nice set of socket wrenches, hammer, needle nose, pliers channel locks.
other niceties for the track- spare parts ( a whole friggin spare car in parts if u can) extension cord, dremel tool, drill, charger, extra rims and tires, set up stuff like hudy setupboard, zipties, glue, more zipties, body clips and keep all those instruction sheets, supplements and etc in a bag for whenever u need major dissasembly. i also keep some spare batteries and extra servos too.

I use the same tackle box as nairb. I put rc car stickers all over mine too. Even though the tackle box is a little expensive(50.00), it works and holds up great. Good tools would be high quality hex drivers(ofna, hudy, trinity), loctite, various sizes of flat head and phillips screwdrivers, piston locking tool, lexan scissors(works great for fule line),dvom(digital voltmeter), soldering iron, temp gun(raytek makes a cheap good one), a magnet for finding small parts u drop or are stuck in chassis, needle nose pliers, regular pliers, angled cutters, and aboe all, after run oil. I think that about covers it http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif. Welcome back to the hobby.

No way, man, that box isn't expensive. I was surprised at how cheap it was. As I said, I bought it online for just $30.

I found two stores online where it was for the same price back then, but that's the only time I ever visited them (I'm no fisherman) and I deleted the bookmarks. I just tried to find them again, but...

Wait, I just remembered. One of them was www.thesportsauthority.com (http://www.thesportsauthority.com) but it looks like they don't have the 7592 anymore. They have one similar, but it doesn't have two removable drawers, and I really LOVE & NEED that part.
