ok i went out to my local track today to try out my T3. i drove it and my diff. was tight so i loosened it up a bit. well i ended up loosening and testing it out about 10 times. now it acclerates REALLY slowly and revs up and when it gets going it goes slower and slower. i tightened my slipper close to all the way and i was thinking that there could be something wrong with the clutch. when you lift the back wheels up off the ground and rev the truck up it sounds fine and when you take the gas off the wheels dont stop abruplty but slow right down quickly, but not to a brutal stop. when you put it on the ground... and the slipper is pretty darn tight, it accelerates real slow like something is slipping and then when it goes.... the revs start to drop slowly.. i was thinking that where is something wrong with the clutch but i'm not sure. i must have adjusted the diff. about 30 times. it accelerates like something is slipping and loose and then when it gets going, and the revs drop, it drives like something is to tight. i have a race in a couple days and want to compete in it so any help would be great. thanks in advance.

Can you spin the wheels without the motor? Should be nice and free. Also, take the brushes from your motor, and with the pinion on, spin it by hand. Does it free rev? Sometimes all it takes it one binding bearing to cause a bunch of problems. Check your brushes... if they are discolored (check the comm too) then it's been binding, or has too much load. Start from one end and move all the way back. Take everything apart if you have to. You'll find it!

Well I've had that problem, identical, but it was just that my diff was too loose. Are your tires glued? or are you sure they are both still glued properly and not slipping. Also losing a pin out of one of the wheels could cause the problem. But if it dumps your backs real quick you could be making bad contact somewhere, most likely the brushes and comm, as always check there. hmmm...that's about all I can think of, oh and make sure that your drive yokes out of the tranny are both tight. Well that's about all I can think of, good luck with it!

thanks. i dont think your problem would have been i dentical because it wouldn't drive like the diff. was tight. theres a big table top on the track i go to and if i put the truck on the top of the table top and ive it a bit of gas and let it off as it goes down the slope, the rear tires lock up and skid all the way down. i know this is a sign of a tight diff. but when i accelerate, it revs up and goes real slowly and then when it gets going it speeds up and then slows down. its not the slipper cuz that is real tight. any other replies?

If your diff was loose enough that it melted the gear a little initially, then no amount of tightening will fix the problem. I would pull the tranny out and check all the gear, and especially the diff. Check that that the gear is not melted, and that the drive rings do not have deep grooves. Also...make sure your diff nut is not stripped... That's about all the idea I have. Good luck!
