Yesterday, I saw Matt Chapman fly at a small event in Ohio and I got to meet the man himself. It was the coolest day ever since he's my idol and all.
Anyway my question pertains to the Greatplanes Cap 580 Matt Chapman .40-.70. Does it fly scale? Does it fly well? Does it fly at all? Please also tell me the size of engine you used. Thank you very much.

Well, here's a bit of information and opinion for you:

A .70 4-stroke seems to be a popular choice for the Great Planes ARF. 5 people seemed to love the plane and 1 guy thought the firewall was flimsy.

That has been a common complaint of ARF's with firewalls. Wrong glue, wrong plywood or not enough and Weak bracing.

I have built a lot of GP ARFs and have seen both the little and big Matt Chapman CAP 580. Both are built very well and are relatively lightweight compared to other similar size ARFs.

Matt is a great guy and I have had the pleasure of flying with and talking to Matt several times. He's a nice guy all the way around. I also just interviewed him for an "RC Pros tell All" article for MAN. His history and interview is very interesting, check out the June issue of MAN when it comes out!
