I am looking at getting a 1/10 electric on-road car and have a buget of about $350.00 total to spend. I figure I should start small and make sure this is something I am going to stick with before I blow a large sum of money on it. I guess what I am asking is what is a decent electric on-road kit, radio, esc, motor, batteries, etc..? I need the whole deal and $350.00 is my max limit. I have no real prefrences about style though I would like to be able to get into racing with the car if my interest holds out like I think it will.

I don't want to rule out RTR but I like the idea of building my own and being able to maintain and tune my car is very important.

Well I don't own a touring car, but I'm considering buying a Tamiya TT-01. You could get the kit, a radio system, and probably a few upgrades for way under $350 (depending on how nice a radio you buy). I've been thinking about getting this kit (Well I don't own a touring car, but I'm considering buying a Tamiya TT-01. 350 may be too low if you are just starting out, you may find even with the cheapest items you may be in the 500 range has most vehicles are in the 250.00+. Make a list of things you will need, then compare it with manufacturers, then sources you can get items from (locally, online, direct).

I would try to find a good used car. Many times you can find older cars that are built and have good electronics for cheap. With $350, you are going to end up with poor quality equiptment if you buy the stuff new most likely.

Ditto...sounds like used is the way to go. You may be able to get away with spending $350 initially, but if you start racing be prepared to spend much more than that. Racing is a ton of fun and you'll be addicted in no time! :D
