Associated makes Green Slime for shocks, to help keep fight against leaking. Is this the same "green slime" sold in Auto departments? My LHS does not sell it, and I hate to order $3 item and pay $6 shipping. I think the auto green slime is the same thing(used for tires and such), but wanna make sure. To use on the O-rings to help against leaks.

Green Slime doesn't prevent the shocks from leaking, not directly anyway. The Green Slime is supposed to be used during shock assembly to make it easier to slide the threaded portion of the shock shaft through the O-rings. This prevents cuts and tears, which may prevent a leak. It won't however, cure a shock that's already leaking - the only way to do that is a rebuild with new O-rings. The Green Slime in the automotive stores is a tire sealant - different stuff. If you can't get it, don't sweat it (I sound like Johnny Cochran). Just be sure to dip the end of the shock shaft in some shock oil before pushing it through the O-rings.

thx. Good thing I didn't use the auto stuff, lol. If I can get it, I was planning on rebuilding the whole shocks, with new O-rings.

I've also found that in a pinch, you can use diff lube in place of green slime, & it seems to work well too..... :)

Apparently Motorcycle fork grease can be used in place of Green Slime (same consistency). I read this in a 1996 issue of RC Car Action. Hope this helps :)
