View Full Version : More power in reverse than in forward on my tc4 rtr?

Why does it feel like there is so much more power in reverse compared to forward. Like the wheels always break loose in reverse when in full throttle but full throttle going forward is not as powerful? Is this normal???
Do I need to adjust the radio settings? if so, how do I do this?
Thanks ;)

You may have the radio's throttle/brake(reverse) well... reversed. On your radio there should be a little switch that is labelled "f/r" or something like that. Switch it to the other side and see if your problem is solved. If not, then keep it switched that way and reverse your motor leads.
Hope this helps

I think if the reverse switch was backwards he would have to push the trigger to go forward and pull to go backwards.
Maybe weight transrer lets it spin easier in reverse. I'm just guessing here.
You need to find out how to set your esc. What speed control are you using? Someone on here will surely know how to set it.

I do not no how to reset the esc. The esc is the LRP AI super reverse digital automatic. The esc that came with the tc4 rtr.

Also my steering is way off center and i had to swith it to the reverse setting as well. Is this the esc's fault?
Thanks
Like Buddman said, the weight transfer allows a 2WD to spin more in reverse than forward, but it doesn't actually have more power. If your ESC allowed more power in forward than reverse and your wires at the motor were backwards, and the radio was backwards, or if the motor timing was timed for reverse rotation, then it would have more power in reverse than forward.

Yea, but it's 4wd. :/

Often the cause of an electric car appearing to be faster or more powerful in reverse has to do with motor timing. The motor will demonstrate more torque in reverse but higher top speed going forward. The car just takes off faster in reverse but is actually slower overall.

I would say the best thing you could do is to make sure you have your motor connected properly and reset your ESC. There should be instructions in the manual on how to do that.

The LRP AI will automatically set itself when the radio is turned on, no need for programming. Check your motor wires just to be sure, if they are fine, make sure that your throttle trim is set at neutral, after that I would agree with MattHiggins that the motor has more torque in reverse an seems faster. The steering servo being off has nothing to do with the ESC, just use your steering trim on the radio to fix it.

Go to teamassociated.com and download the directions for your speed control..it's easy....that will tell you how to use the one touch program button.......1. unhook motor leads 2. plug in good battery 3. turn on your radio 4.. turn on speed control 5. push and hold the one touch button down 6. when the led blinks let go of the button & pull the throttle lever on the radio to full throttle for a second, then push to full brake, then release back to neutral. 7. push the onetouch button again to stop the led from blinking. 8. YOU ARE DONE..it's that easy...
Goodluck..hope this helps....

AGAIN, the LRP AI Super Reverse digital has no set up. All you do it turn on the radio and it is programmed automatically. No button at all to push.
