hello me and my friends have t3s and xxts could it be possible with built wooden ramps to do a (turf) type offroad track we have marker flags to lay the course out and we have built several small ramps to place at diff points off the track my concern was being to slow but any info would be appreciated............of course the grass is mowed very low but not surer for club racing

yeah its possible. Just get some 2 by 4 or someting more solid for barriers, and make all sorts of jumps. Also, make sure you have a good front strech, its those that can make or break a race

you wouldnt be able to go fast enough, nor have enough stability on grass to get some good speed. dirt would be the best thing, and make the jumps out of dirt.

i disagree... it all depends on how low the grass is mowed down. my old buggy goes really quick on the grass and my lawn is sorta long. it will depend on the set up of the car/truck and the length of the grass. but a lawn track is more than plausible.

2x4's are not a good idea... Ive seen a lot of people break things by crashing into them. if you can find yourself some brightly colored garden hose or some small tent stakes and some caution tape it would be a lot better i think.
I'm sorry to disagree with everyone about things, but its just opinions that make people think. so maybe something good will come from it? he did ask... so i gave my opinion. anyway good luck with making your track :)

oh, im not sayin it would be slow on grass, just faster on dirt. it would be hard to mowe that area every few days to keep the grass down. plus they have stadium trucks, not buggies. my Jato has gotten stuck in grass on a few occassions. and you know how after you cut grass, all the grass that got cut, just sits in the yard, so you would need a mower that has a bag.
it would cost alot more money to do a dirt track, but a grass one would work.

well the grass i have is what we call carpet grass kinda like astro turf when its cut to my mowers lowest setting its kinda like a golf green i was just figuring something diff space the jumps at diff locations and use the marker flags (the kind the highway department uses ) and lay out the line as far as bugys go i have an evader and it doesnt run that well on grass but the trucks seem to have more tire which helps them alot also wouldnt break as many parts if we land in the grass i have the ramps built and i have also painted them neon orange so you can see them well ...........thx for the replys

Watch your neighbors and see if any of them are throwing out any old carpet. You could lay it all out and make a nice track, at least prior to the jumps so you could get up some good speed. Sounds so good, I may just keep an eye out for some to run our 1/18's on.

ok, gonna throw my dime's worth in here.( cuz i never shut up enough for it to be just 2 cents lol)........anyway,..........very low cut grass, as you describe, i think will be just fine. i am sure many will agree with me that after a few races, a "groove" will develop anyway, and kept active enough, grass will eventually give in, tear out from running, and you will be on a "dirt" surface anyway.......i have built several "temp" tracks, so maybe my ideas will help in some way........1. 2 4x8 sheets of plywood, ripped in 2 foot sections, screwed to a 2x 4 on the edge, make some nice little jumps, or you can increase size for taller jumps if you desire. 2 litre bottles half filled with sand, and some "caution " tape can lay out the basic boundries of a track nicely, and best of all, TOTALLY portable........you can change track layout in a few minutes, move it to pavement for on road, use the smaller jumps for the rally cars, use your imagination,.....anyway, just some of the things i have done in the past.

thx man i had already built some small jumps i dont think you need any great big jumps to have fun i have a total of 3 jumps so far with neon paint so you see edges better and the marker flags are good cause if you run into them it doesnt tear truck up just slows you down so most of the guys stay off of them .....................
