Im getting tired of hearing all this stuff about how everyone's LHS is so bad. It makes me depressed :D .

We've all had our fair share of Hobby Shop "blunders" but lets try to focus on the nice things people have done for you. Racing, general service, or just plain being nice is the kinda stuff I wanna hear.

I'll start it off. When I had just started racing with my T3 I had a REALLY bad crash. Here's what happened:

Broken A-Arm
Broken rear shock tower
Completely trashed motor (the arm slammed up against the can and shattered the magnets!!)
Tweaked motor mount

Pretty bad, the worse thing was I only had 10 bucks! I was pretty bummed so i started to pack up and this guy comes um behind me and says "Wait". He askes me for my car and tells me to pull up a chair. He opens up his veritable "hobby shop" and pulls out every single peice that I had broke, even a new motor! He said to me: "I dont like to see you kids sad like that when you have a bad crash." and then started to help he re-assemble my car.

This was one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me and I hope that everyone else has had a good experiance like this one. :)

A few racers at my track lent me a battery because I only had one to compete and it blew up, so they tried to see what they could do with my battery, but it was no use. And then i poped off a turnbuckle in my old XXCR and a guy gave me a new one sine i couldnt find it.

well i got a few stories. But the only one were i got sme thing free was when...

I was working on my nitro rustler and the battey pack's cord that goes to the receiver got cut. so i went to my lhs and jimmy if he had any instock. he said no (i thought whats new) and wait. So he brought out a brutily hacked nitro sport. plucked the battery pack off of it and gave it to me. that was cool. the truck was a demo i guess and they just plucked parts off of it :)

I live close to my LHS (RC Tech in Daly City) and these folks are the greatest. They are helpful, honest, and try hard to help me out with problems or getting parts even for stuff they don't normally sell. There's another LHS around here that I probably won't be visiting unless I'm desparate.

Yeah, there's plenty of good shops out there, & my personal favorite story is from one. A few years ago while I was in Milwaukee for Trackside's Novak Touring Car Championships, I started having some trouble with my radio, & I had no idea what could've been the cause. When Scotty(the owner of the place) noticed my problem, he helped me change out each piece of electronics(except for the servo) with borrowed components from the shop until we'd finally narrowed it down to the transmitter itself(& the one we tested with to determine this was a new one from the shelf), so he let me use it until I could pay for it(which was later in the weekend). Needless to say, I was most grateful, & every time I go up there I try to be ready to buy from them, they deserve all the support I can give them. In fact, that's also where I bought my first TC3(which I'm still using, I absolutely love it) & lots of extras to go with it..... :)

This is where I like to go, but it's too long a drive and I don't have a car. The people are really nice, though.

My LHS(Smitty Built R/C) is very good. When I wanted some spare springs for my car, i was looking at the wrong ones. He told me that I was looking at the wrong ones and he told me the ones i wanted/needed. Also, when i got my mod motor, I had no Idea how to solder, so I asked him to do it for me. He did it and even better, he did it for free!! Also, when my mom was looking for a ball bearing set for my car, he told her the correct set( I originally thought that she would have to buy seven sets of two bearings, but the ones worked out to be the perfect size!!

My best LHS memory was probably when this one woman was trying to find something in RCCA for me and she was flipping through it. All the sudden she comes to one of those huge Ofna posters with the girls on it. Ahhh the memories. Needless to say I bought the magazine. Then one of my friends jacked the poster from my garage. :(

well this story only makes sense if you have an LHS that is greedy. my LHS now makes people pay for them soldering pieces together. well my old LHS soldered my battery back together for no charge and they used some extra strength stuff...i still have the battery and it wont break....

also, my old LHS when i was gonna buy me a rustler instead of an Epede(i bought an Epede though) the guy who was gonna sell me the rustler offered to swap the rustlers crappy tires for some nice pro-line basher tires and charge me the exact same as the normal rustler...but imma MT fan :D

Well i have a couple stories.
First off when i got my truck as a beginner i didn't know a darn thing about it. Especially when the radio went on the glitch. I was stumped and my dad was mad because the thing was only like a month old. So we took it to our local hobbyshop (hobbytown USA) the guy looked and fiddled with it for about ten minutes then decided to take the radio out of his race truck. IU was like whoa i don't have the money for a radio but he was just testing it to see what was wrong. eventually he found that it was one of my servos that had a partially cut wire that shorteds the whole system.
I mean this was pretty cool to me cause it was only like the second time i had been in this hobby shop and he spent over an hour working on my piece of junk truck.

But anyways i just thought this was pretty nice of him. And he was gonna do it for free but we paid him none the less.

I went to Hobby City this afternoon to inquire about doing custom painting for them and he said he wasn't really interested, but if I made up some fliers he'd happily pass them out and post them in his window.

He's a real stand-up kinda guy and that's rare these days. Kudos to him!

I had bought an engine from the hobby shop at the track were I race but after the frist few races with it I would run right and none of the people there could get it to either. The person who sold me the engine then let me run his XXX-NT because I couldn't run mine. That was the nicest driving R/C I have ever touched and I ended up third in the A-Main.

I have a couple stories. First off, I was racing and hit a jump and flipped over. The marshall flipped me over and I punched the gas. Nothing happened! The steering didnt work either. The marshall put my car on the side and my dad starts walking over to fix my car.(he was in the stands)And this guy at his pit table grabs my car before my dad gets there. Hes lookinh under the body and fiddling with stuff. He threw it on the track and I got 2nd place even though I broke down. Ends up my battery wires somehow bumped my on/off switch off! Second, I wanted to get a movie to watch and learn about nitro cars. I see a movie labled RC10GT. I say to myself "well thats the car I am thinking about getting maybe I should get that" I asked him how much it was and he said "You dont want that movie it is really bad. I will let you have it and then next time you come in just return it." I said yes and took it. It was a real korny movie but it taught me what I needed to know. My LHS rocks!! It is RnL Hobbies
