Looking to get one on ebay. I am new to R/C and want to start by chasing the dog in my back yard (3 acre). Any suggestions, these both look pretty decent. Thanks. :D

IMO the T3 is a better truck all around. It's a good and tough truck for bashing and when you want to step up and get into racing, it's capable of holding its own on the track.

I have both. I like the T3 a little better. The rustler is probably a little more durable but it isnt as racey as the T3 because the rustler is alot heavier. Parts are widely available for both so that shouldnt be an issue. I would get a T3.

I appreciate quick response. Lots of decent deals on Ebay. What kind of batteries does T3 take and what kind should I get??? Like I said "newbie" here.
What is bashing???
How fast do these things go???
Thanks again. :D :D

These things are pretty fast, but how fast it goes depends on what motor you put in it. For a battery i would get a 6 cell. Look here (maxamps.com) for a pack. They have good cells and good prices.

but there are like 100 '6 cell' when I search. what are these numbers 1700, 3300? Does the brand matter?? The ones I am looking at are pretty stock. Thanks for all the info. :D

The Gp3300, Gp3700 and Ib3800 are the best packs. The plugs depend on what kind is on your esc. I would sugguest puting deans plugs on your battery and esc. Because the Tamiya plugs will eventually melt and you will have to change them anyway.

mexican - the numbers like 3300, 3800, etc. correspond to run time. The unit is milliamp-hours or mAh. All else being equal, a pack with 3700 mAh will last longer in your truck before it slows down than a pack with 1700 or 3300 mAh.

As mentioned earlier, for bashing (just playing around) either truck will be fine. If you plan to race later, you should go with the T3. Is there a local dirt track near by? Is there a local hobby shop(LHS) near by? Do they carry parts for the rustler of T3? It would be great if you can see either truck in action. Most racers would have switched to the T4. The most bang for your buck would be the 3300 battery packs. I have a Rustler and XXXT. I love my XXXT.

As far as i know they are. From what i have heard, they are really busy right now. They are usually pretty good about returning emails. I wouldnt worry too much.
