Well I just got into RC boating since I recently moved near a lake. I bought a kyosho twin storm, and I have to say, I love the thing. I have some questions about it, maintainance and upgrades.
First question is about maintainance. Is there anything I should be doing to it? I am guessing maybe take off the cover over the gears and grease them once in a while? Anything else?
Seccond question is about modifications/upgrades. I was wondering if there is anything I can do it to make it a bit faster? I know brushless would be awesome but I think those are a bit expensive. Anyways, let me know what you all think. Right now the boat is bone dry stock, and I love to modify things :)

Before to to the expense of upgrading the motors, try some different props. The stock props from Kyosho aren't the best. I don't know off-hand which ones to try.

Oh, and also when i was going for a boat i asked the guy at the hobby shop about nitro boats. He said they arent any good. He said either go gas or electric, and dont go nitro. I dont know what is bad about nitro, anyone wanna fill me in whats bad about it on water? I always run nitro in my cars.

Nitro boats are too temperamental, if you know nitro motors, they don't idle well, and alot of torque is required because there's no coasting in a boat, electrics are known for more torque through the rpm range, plus ocassionally you hafta close the throttle fast, the get on it again fast, nitro engines don't respond well to this.
The first thing you can do is run it on 2- 7cell packs, instead of 6-cell packs, and get a harder propeller, carbon fiber, or metal.

Well I have already bought 4 1600 packs and 2 3300 packs all 6 are 6-cell. Are 7-cell packs much more money?

Oh, also... where is a good place to get mods for boats, especially the twin storm?

Steve Vacarro at http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/MainPage.htm has some hop-up parts for your boat. He seems to specialize in having parts for production boats to get a little more oomph out of them. Watch the scroll on the right side of the page, your boat will come up. He noted also about the Kyosho props being a weak spot on these. He is down for a little while moving into his new store.

Im wondering about if I wanted to go brushless. Could i get away with getting one brushless motor to power the boat? What kind of speed would I be looking at with a brushless motor?
