Check out Cirrus servos. They make some inexpensive servos.

There aren't too many servos other than standards for $30. FMA Direct has servos for about $50 that put out 100 oz. of torque at .08 sec. featuring bearings and metal gears. If you save up a little more now you won't be spending more again to upgrade.

I got a really cheap servo, it was Grand wing I think. It has 80 oz-in of torque, but a speed of .20, so its sort of slow. it was 30 canadian, about 20 US. Plus it is BB and MG. The only problem I had was none of the servo horns that came with my TC3 fit, so I had to modify the ones that came with the servo.

Its a Grand Wing Servo. http://servoman.hypermart.net
Model S10 2BBMG

They also make ones with more torque, but I don't know the prices. I got this at a really small hobby shop, so I don't know if it is carried all over the place.
