New to boating, just built a kit (Topspeed hull w/ .21 OS Max outboard) I currently have the stock plastic prop, and wanting to upgrade to stainless steel prop. Any advice where I can purchase a finished prop? I need to know the technical info such as pitch, diameter, and shaft size. I believe my current stock prop is 42mm dia, 1/20 pitch and 5mm shaft. I have been unable to find this size in stainless. Can any other size be substituted? Thanks in advance,

Jeff K.

Are you sure that the shaft is 5mm and not 3/16"? Also, what do you mean by 1/20 pitch? That could probably be replaced by a berillium-copper prop such as the X440, X442, or the X640 from Octura (availible at www.offshoreelectrics.com)

I appreciate your input, and have checked out the link you attached to your reply. The tech info i gathered came from a stock prop made for the 3.5 .21 OS Max outboard. It could be a 3/16" shaft.

Andy Brown has sharpened and balanced props on his website, www.cmdracing.com . Click on Dockside then Prop Wall on the left. It is updated daily.
Plastic props that come with OB engines aren't really safe to run, they're more for show than anything.
In stainless, you'd want a Prather 215 or 220, I'd go for the first one.

I bought 4 props from him during the winter, they do nice work.
One other person who did one prop for me so far: http://www.props4u.com/

The OS has a 3/16" shaft & I put the X640 on there & it runs the best out of all the props I tried. I would love to get me a stainless Prather though. Not knowing much about Prather, I'm not sure which prop would be comparable to the X640.

Bug, get with me and you can check out my prop box again before buying. I should have a 215 and 220 that you can try. I'm available anytime between now and Labor Day.
Yeah, I lost your phone number again.
