I'm really happy with the finished product. Yeah, yeah, yeah... Almost everyone wants HUGE jumps on a track. The biggest jumps on my track are 16" high. That's good enough for my electric off-road racers. This track was made for electric cars & trucks. As you can see from my truck pics, most of the people racing on this track will be backyard bashers with entry level electro cars. Also, the way the track is laid out, there are not many places to reach top speed. So HUGE jumps really wouldn't be used to their full potential. I also wanted to be able to race my track in BOTH directions. I'm pretty good at racing the track in one direction. But when I try to drive in the opposite direction... I just plain SUCK! It's the same track layout, just in the opposite direction. It's REALLY hard. Feels like you're driving on a COMPLETELY different tack design.

LOL!!! :D Believe me... I've thought more than once about putting a netted wall on that corner closest to the pond! I still might. Could you imagine seeing YOUR car sinking to a watery grave!?!?!

lol...i like the recovery boat idea...but i agree that it looks like it needs some bigger jumps, it looks kinda flat-but that might just be the camera. but that's a pretty good lookin track!!

problem is that a good jump will have a launch side. if properly sculpted, the backside usually won't hold a good face. it looks like your jumps were just shoveled in place. they don't look packed down. need to drive over them with a tractor to pack them down and then shape them. might want to buy some 90deg pipe fittings and put them where the pipes end in the middle of the track. one end on the pipe, the other end down in the dirt. probably going to rip off some suspension arms with those pipes left open. very nice track overall. tracks are a lot of hard work and i commend you for building one! now.....lets see the drivers stand ;)

Those 90 degree elbows on the open ends of the tile are a GREAT idea. I'll be sure to get a couple of those! Thanks. As far as a drivers stand... Right now we just stand on those big wooden spools you see in one of the pics. They aren't nearly as high as a drivers stand, but it's a LOT better than standing on the ground. I'll be building a real drivers stand next spring. Any ideas as to what dimensions for my drivers stand? Also, any plans on how to build a SAFE drivers stand?

depends how permanent you want it. best way would be to cement in 4x4 posts into the ground and build a platform with 2x6 or 2x8 beams. you can buy steps premade at certain heights. i wouldn't try to do the stairs yourself. huge liability if they break. what are the approximate outside dimensions of the track?

The track dimensions are 36' x 72' with 9' wide lanes.

I was driving my XXX-s on the road one time, going bout 40mph, and accedently turned into a ditch with about 3 feet of water. Car sunk instently. When i pulled it out, it had algea and crap all over it, and looked like a real car had flown into a lake, kinda funny. But heres the cool part. Non of the electronics had fried.

how tall are those spools and how's the view of the track?

The spools are only 3.5' tall. I'm 6' tall so that helps. The view of the track isn't too bad. But a drivers stand about 6' up in the air would be great. Is there a standard height for driver stands?

Allot of the tracks around here have 15 foot are taller driversstands, I dont even think the closest track has a drivers stand.I like to have a drivers stand where you can see over the entire course and you dont have to look straight down to see the front section. One thing I absolutly hate is driverstands on the front straight, I know most people wont agree with me but I belive the drivestand shold be on an angle so your not looking striaght down any lane(I like where your spools are set)

no standard, it depends on how big the track is. a 6 foot stand would be plenty for that size of track. 8 foot maybe a little better, but taller than that would be a waste.

Looks great... but why did you start a separate thread? You already had "TRACK BUILDING 101." Now you're gonna have to go over there and tell them to come over here.

make the drivers stand about as high as the corn in the pic with the spools and that would probably be good.

Very, very nice. I see 2 small areas for improvement. 1- get rid of the rocks, they aren't doing any good and 2- move the triple in the first pic. Right now its right before (or after) a curve, put it where you can try to jump over all 3 jumps. You've done an excellent job and these recommendations are only my opinion. Have fun!

Great job, especially for a first track build.
