hello ,

I just bought this boat and comes with the following upgrades:

Orion Core motor and an Airtronics Blazer Am radio system. Can anyone tell me about this upgrades and also what can I do to make this boat hit the
30 mph mark ?

regards!

You could make that boat faster, but 30mph is quite a task, & investment. You would need a Nemesis 540-10XL, with matching controller from www.finedesignrc.com on sale now for $279, and 12 cells. Also, you would have trouble keeping that hull on the water at that speed!,,, 20-25mph is more realistic, can be obtained with a 700 8.4voltbb motor, ESC or microswitch, & 12 cells, Either way you will need a new or homemade motor mount, and a motor coupling to match up to your driveshaft. Or, get yourself a Trinity Monster Maxx "Pro" 17t motor, (bolts right in) set timing to 24 degrees, and use a 7cell batt. pack, give this setup about 4-5 runs for break in, and you will have a pretty fast 20mph boat, that you can live with on one batt. pack, with good speed, & run time.

Mikdee,
'
Thanks for the info....The trinity monster Maxx sounds write...whats the cost and also should I get a cooling system ? Also what do you think of the upgrades on the boat that it comes with ?

One more question besides the cost...why would 30 mph be to much for this boat ? Is it because of the size ?

Yes, if I'm correct your boat is 26" long, it would be ballistic at 30mph, turn fins, and a cooling system, would be a must with the larger can motors (700bb, Nemesis). I think the Monster Max "Pro" is about $45, you may need water cooling if your battery is 2000mah or more, but I would try it without that at first, this motor is "heavy duty" made to deliver the most power for the least heat. Try the stock prop, Check heat every 2 mins, If it gets too hot, let it cool down, maybe you can go to a smaller prop, or add water cooling later,,, I'm not familiar with what upgrades are available for this boat? Have you tried setting the advance on your Orion Core stock motor?,,, they don't come preset like most stock motors, you have to physically adjust the endbell to 24degrees advance to get any speed, or power, out of it!

i dont understand y everyone chooses car motors to go in boats... they are two different mediums.. a car motor will never have the torq of a boat motor.. why dont you just get a electrifly 600 size motor or a graupner 600 size motor you will be much happier .. and if it does get wet the brushes wont disinergrate like car brushes do ......

You gotta be kidding me, YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE THIS BOAT YET, HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT RUNS, AND YOU'RE LOOKING FOR ADVICE ON HOW TO HOP IT UP!!!,,, gimme a break!

If your a newbie, Try the boat first, give it, and yourself, a chance to get used to it, when you can handle it well at the speed it goes, then write back for advice!

Remember you need to learn how to walk, before you can run.

ouch! Just because I am a newbie doesn't mean I don't have any experience at all. I am not new to the world of RC but, I know what I am want to extract from this boat. i beleive that one should research prior to committing to a hobby. I have done my extensive research and have decided on what output i want from this boat and that it is possible to get it up to 30 mph. I was looking for anybody to also give me their expertise not to be scolded.
On that note I invite all express their opinion as to the possibilites that I may want to explore . I also invite newbies to share their experiences and questions as well because this is indeed a forum for all ,not just the experienced. Now lets open our doors to demonstrating our skills instead of our ignorance. Again I stress if anyone cares to join me in their questions than do so. Let us not stop our creativities. For now I wait for your opinions and DO EXPRESS THEM WITHOUT CONVICTIONS!!!!!!!!

Remember the Winged Avenger will be back !!!

PS: this is the name of my boat ...anyone else care to share theirs . Remember boats are made to be named!!!

Well I received the boat today and the radio is missing the antenna...also the on off switch doesn't work . I have a mega pax 1500 7.2v pack but , the coupling is different than the boat. What should I do ????

Thanks for your assistance.

Greatly appreciated. :o

you're sure the antenna is missing, not just hiding inside the hull?
if it were me...I'ld get in touch with the person or shop that you got the boat from.

The Shockwave 26 has a very bad drive system FOR upgrading.
Much more power will lift the transom in turns and cause constant spin outs. You will also have problems in the straights. BL power will rip that boat apart.
I suggest you use this boat as a stepping stone. Its a good way to enter rc boating.
