12 -> 17 mm hex?

I’m toying with the idea of mounting 1/8 scale tires on an old buggy. But to do so, I need to somehow convert the buggy’s stock 12 mm wheel hubs to some beefier 17 mm hubs.
The closest I can get are these (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXABC5&P=0) wheel hubs, but they are 6 mm inner diameter, a full 2 mm more than my buggy.

So I ask you, oh all-knowing Gods of RC, how can this be done?

edit... scratch that.. the maxx axles are 6mm diamater as well. hmmm...

If you could get a 14mm hex on there GS racing makes a plastic adapter that goes over the 14mm hext that enlarges it to 17mm. those might work and thats GS part # GS-UT04
