Stock class motors and limited to 27 turns and 24 degrees of timing, amongst other things. the 19-turn spec class is basically the same concept but with 19 turn motors.

I would go with the Chameleon 2 a great motor, and I have been running it for almost 3 years now. I'm still tweaking my new Cobalt 19 and seeing how it runs.

The 19turn class is also made up of two separate classes since there is differences in the two motors being used. 19turn Spec are those motors with bearing, fixed endbells, machine wound armatures, the other 19turn Mod made from the three major motor manufacturers Yokomo (Reedy TI), Epic (Trinity D5, D6, Cobalt cans with D4 endbell - P94 endbells were disallowed), TOP (orion/Peak v2 can/endbell). The 19turn mods incorporate adjustable endbells, handwound armatures, ball bearings are generally faster than the 19turn Spec are retail price is higher.
While the 19turn mod got their start in ARCOR (another rc sanctioning body) oval racing, ROAR approved these motors for the 19turn class but only in oval classes - rules may have changed and clubs may separate the 19turn into 2 separate classes. There are many aftermarket companies building 19 turn mods (Putnam, Kisbey, KC, Fantom, Team One, CheckPoint and other) the popluratity of this class has seen Trinity indroducing 3 new 19turns of their own.

Hey (SteveBahnatka2) did you have any problems with your Cobalt 19? Mine seems to run slower than my C2's. Does it have to do with the fact that the brushes are silver single shunt?
Thanks

Trinity has released a couple different 19turn mod motors the ones that are legal (2005 ROAR, ARCOR rules) are those using standard size standup brushes and two magnets (no p94 or split magnets). Those include the 9teen, Ultra Bird and Arconite (the other version with P94 hoods are not legal) but rules will vary with track you race at.
Because the 19turn mods use handwound, adjustable timing and make more power than the Spec 19turn there is no comparison to which is faster. To see any relative difference the two are generally never setup the same or use the same gearing. The Cobalt based motors do run cooler than the previous types of motors but what many may do is increase the pinion size, which may overgear it - like the Epic Stock it is very gear specific. You have to be right in that one tooth range or performance suffers.
For comparision the 19turn spec class record is 50 laps, the 19turn Mod (Pro) is 55 laps and lap speed and times the 19t mod rules with true modifieds turning 64-66 laps in 4 minute oval heats. Even in the limited TC racing the mod19 turns are faster and in a class to themselves than the spec 19turns.
Aftermarket motor companies (Putnam, Fantom, Kisbey, KC Racing, Check Point, etc) are also building 19turn Mod based on the 3 major motor manufacturers Yokomos-Reedy Ti, Epic - Trinity D5, D6, Cobalt with D4 endbell setup, TOP (orion/peak) early Top can and now V2 can. These usually develop better power than the ones Trinity calls Pro.

Quite right, I've tested a number of 19's, both mod ones(with stand-up brushes, like the Cobalt-based 9Teen) & speac ones(with laydowns like the Chameleon 2, Reedy Quad-Mag, etc.), & the true mod 19's are definitely more powerful than the spec ones, but I think it really has more to do with the fact that they're handwound rather than machinewound(it's also why a handwound 12 turn will generally be more poowerful than a machine-wound motor of the same spec). So which one you'll want just depends on what the 19 turn rules are at your track, if they stick to spec motors, then you'll need to stick to ones like the C2, Redy QuadMag, or soe of the newer Atlas-based ones I've seen lately(I think the ones I've tested are also machine-wound & legal for that, & they look pretty stout), but if the thing there is the handwound one with adjustable timing, than I'd go for something like that Cobalt-based 9Teen(I've also tested a few of those, & I'm impressed with them, VERY strong)....
