Hey guys. i have a Traxxas XL-1 ESC with a Futaba J plug and i want to get the Hitec Lynx radio and the reciever that comes with it. Is the ESc compatable with my ESC, or do i have to buy a new reciever, or do i just have to switch the wires around?? Please help because i am only 13 and want the best radio $50 dollars can buy, and the Lynx seems to be the best STarter Complete Package.
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can just change the plug end that goes into the receiver. Look at the way the wires go into the plug, you can see a part of the silver ends through 3 slots in the plastic plug. You'll see that there is a tab that sticks up a tiny bit that prevents the wires from pulling out, take a very small screw driver or some other small tool and push down on that tab, gently pull on the wire and it will come out of the plug. Sometimes it takes a little monkeying around with it and few tries to get the job done, but the small hassle is better than buying a new reciever!

I think if the Hitec's receiver has a Futaba J plug then there is no problem. To be sure I would call Hitec.

I run hitec servos in most all my cars and have almost all Futaba radios and receivers.
Do this: Cut that small sliver of plastic off the Futaba J plug. The sliver that makes the plug fit that J shape. Then it will fit fine in the Hitec radio. I do this all the time and it has never failed me.
On the hitec wires the colors are Yellow, Red and Brown. On Futaba they are White, Red, And Black.
The Yellow no Hitec is the Whitye on Futaba, the Red is red on both and the Brown on Hitec is Black on Futaba. So just line those up (no need to tear down plugs) and it will be at the correct polarity.

Yep, hpiguy is right. As long as the wires are in the same sequence and you can modify the plug to fit into the slot, you will be fine. I've done this quite a few times myself.

Thanks guys. Do you think the Hitec Lynx is a good starter radio?? I have the old Fuitaba Attack stick radio without servo reversing, its like 10-15 years old, think it may be a collectors item??? What should i do with it? Should i save it for if i get aother car??I know i will getanother car but it will prbabkly come with everything, but, what should i do??

The Lynx is a fine starter radio. As for your old stick radio, I'd hang on to it. Maybe someday you will buy an R/C boat or a friend might want to get into the hobby but doesn't have the money for a radio right away, and you could loan him that one. But then again, I am pretty much a pack-rat, I never throw anything away! http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
