Does anyone make scale diamond plating for models? I want to line the bed of my new '56 chevy pickup with it to give it that hotrod look. Have any of you ever done anything like this? If so, how'd you do it?

Diamond plating? do you mean like metallic paint?

No, I think he means like that stuff that they sometimes use on floors and stuff to get traction and they also put it on trucks to give them a mocho look.

Yeah, the "macho" looking stuff. That's what I mean. Does anyone make it to scale?

Scale diamond plate (macho-style) is, or at least was available from Plastruct in plastic sheets.
Most railroad type hobby shops carry the brand for making those pint-size buildings

It looks real and just needs a shot of silver to complete the "look." Good luck!

Thanks a lot Bob! I found their website (www.plastruct.com) and ordered a copy of their catalogue. They still make the stuff if anyone else was wondering. They've got a lot of other materials that could be usefull for custom stuff as well.

I'm not sure. I have never seen it to scale.

I forgot to ask; the plastruct materials are listed by the scale codes for model railroads. Does anyone know which scale railroad is closest to 1/10 scale. If I had to guess I'd say HO, but I'm not sure. Thanks.

HO is 1/87.5
Even the large scale O is only 1/43.5
There's a really large scale called II which is 1/22 but it's pretty rare.
I don't know if there's anything larger..

But, that doesn't mean that something made for a smaller scale won't look good on your chevy.
