View Full Version : Hot motors? Over geared?Under geared?
Heres a little info be for I start.E-Maxx with spool(locked diff),Kyosho X-Speed 550's,Kyosho Twin Force(Clod size)tires and about 2-3 pounds more then stock. I am running 15t pinion gears and 70t spur gear on grassy hilly and rough(my yard LOL)ground. My ESC gets warm and so do my batterys witch is normal. But my motors are getting hot sence I switch from a Grave Digger(lots or room around motors) type body to a ST type body(little room around motors).Am I over or under geared? Or is it just the body types causing the heat?

It could be a mixture of both body and being overgeared. My way of testing a motor is (if you dont have a temp guage) if you can hold your finger on the motor for at least 5 full seconds, you are fine. If you have a temp guage, under 160* is fine.
