Apples and oranges.

Btw, Didn't you say you've already bought the boat? If so, now why all the questions now about engine & hull etc.? Sounds like you're over excited:).

The RC is a fine engine & will stroke that boat along good. Its easy as pie to start where even with the 260's I still have a bit of fumbling. You could've saved some cheese & bought mine instead as I just put a new 27 SIKK in the G':D

per what I read..... the G23 has 2 transfer port and the G230RC has 4 transfer port and also larger cooling fins.
more transfer port = more power.
since 2 stroke engines have no valves they use a flush method to force out exhaust gases, the piston it self acts as valve assembly.
from the lower crankcase pressurized (by the down movemnent of the piston/reducing crank case volume )air fuel mixtrure is getting forced over the top of the piston through the transfer ports, this mixture is pushing or forcing out the exhaust gas trhough the exhaust port(s), re supplying the combustion area with fresh air fuel mixture (and ready to fire again)
these tranfer ports play a big part in 2 stroke engines, that is why race engines ports are getting polished, mathced and grinded/ timed.
transfer port size and angle also has key effect on performance.

so in short .....4 port is better than 2 .

DD,
so how did that sikk conversion paid off?
stornger ? faster ? worth it?
the reason I ask, I may go for water cooled conversion in the future, once I have nothing else to do?

Took the watercooled conversion off & sold it. Then put a (new) complete 27 SIKK engine in there instead. Looks just like the RC230 from the outside. Have two tanks through it now and it got 44 & change last weekend. There's more but its now thrown the prop selection out the window as its got a lot of torque.

Is it worth it? For a complete brand new engine at less than $140...... YES !:) (now just got-ta work on keeping this thing glued to the water as its wanting to blow over:D)

Btw, Eric.... the Edge is a little larger hull than the G' and could probably benefit more from the extra Cubes of the Sikk. Might be a consideration for an easy upgrade.

so the sikk27.... is it water cooled engine? and it is 27cc instead 23 (rc230)?
and you say they sell for $140 brand new?

Its not watercooled but air & is almost an exact twin to the RC230. Engine & carb cost me less than 140- new w/shipping. ITs fast too. :)

So what did't you like about the conversion???

and where to buy such engine ?

You know.... I might have to look into the sikk in the future. First I am going to learn how to drive this beast:D
