Has anyone other than me had problems getting the ezstart power wires to stay connected to the ezstart motor??
Mine are filled with Nitro grime, and I keep trying to clean them out and reconnect them. I crimp them harder, they fall off easier. Any ideas??
and another thing-----
ez start or pull????

Read the October 2001 issue of rcca. It has a whole article on the traxxas e-z start.

Mine did the same thing, starting with falling off the first time the truck was started out of the box.. the simplest solution is to just cut the crimp connectors off and solder the wires to the motor tabs.. end of problem, period. If you *have* to have a connector in the line to be able to unplug the starter motor, you can very easily add one (a deans or suitably 'better' connector) somewhere in the wires over towards the body mount end..

One other thing.. the ez-start was touchy at best/on a *good* day on our Maxx... we started using the Traxxas 3230 glow plug and an actual glow plug ignitor and cut off/stopped using the stock blue wire glow plug setup that comes on the truck.. after those two changes it fires up almost instantly every single time with the ez-start..

Here is the solution that worked for me. The little rubber covers were causing the wires to pop off. I trimed the rubber covers back to even with the front edge of the metal connectors. After that the wires stay connected very well. Once in a while you might want to check the connectors for proper fit as they tend to loosen if you take them on and off a lot. And you will need to take them on and off a lot if you are to maintain the gears and one-way bearing properly.

Be-all, end-all solution (as already stated)...solder the wires to the motor tabs. End of problem, permanently!!!
Or, buy a pullstarter for $12 & lose the extra weight of the EZ mechanism.
