Well I run all Nitro's (offroad), I use a toothbrush, denatured alcohol, and my air compressor to clean my trucks.

The paint department of Wally World, or Home Depot, etc.
I no longer use denatured alky. I now remove the radio tray, and air filter, cap the carb and exhaust with a rubber cap, spray it down with SimpleGreen cleaner, and spray it off with water from the garden hose. I then blow it dry with my air compressor. Then spray it with WD-40, and again blow off the excess with the compressed air. The cars come spotless, are rustproofed, and smell "citrusy fresh". :D

Home Depot for the denatured alcohol and you can use "air in a can" they sell for dusting computers/keyboards/equipment. If you use quick blasts they last quite a while.

Any Hardware store will carry it, as do stores like Kmart and others who have a paint department.
I put the denatured alcohol in a spray bottle and spray it liberally over my trucks. Just remember, you don't want to spray it on the reciever on down the carb.
Since you don't have a compressor, you may want to just dunk the toothbrush in the denatured alcohol and use it that way. It evaporates quickly, so spraying it on may just a waste.
