TL01 Owners please help!!

I want to get the Baja Champ. I will also get bearings with it but they cost $70! Duratrax sells them for $30 but withought the 4 shafts. Do you really actually need to buy the $70 set that come with the 4 shafts or can I save $40 bucks anmd just get the Duratrax set?
