Can i take a brand new Modified Motor(Trinity Speed Gems 2 Ruby(16X3))by putting the long shaft(where the pinnion goes) in a cordless drill, tightening the chuck, holding the motor and pulling the trigger? Will this cause any problems to the motor itself or anythig else?
thanks

I think you will hurt it that way, the proper way is to connect the motor to a single duracell c batterie, let it run it all the way dead and then clean it with powershot motor cleaner. if you use a 1500 mah batterie or higher you will hurt the motor, so i guess with the high speeds of drills you will hurt something.

i saw it the issue where i think kevin broke in his p2k after a rebuild. another thing: where is the comm on the motor?i have comm drops for it, but don't know where to put them

Tadium, the com is the copper colored area where the brushes make contact.

I don't think it'll hurt anything. I've read advice to do that same thing MANY times. I plan on doing the same thing when I get my new motor. The point of breaking in a motor is to loosen the bushings (if it's stock) and to seat the brushes (wear them down so it perfectly matches the commutator); I don't see how a drill could hurt anything. Two suggestions: make sure the Comm is trued first and make sure you spin the armature the same way it'll spin when it's used in your car.

But if the armatur spends too fast it can burn up the comm, ive seen it happen thats why i suggest you do it the safe and ez way.

Motor break-in with a slave motor is a very common practice.

Do not turn it too fast, and be sure you turn it counter clockwise when looking at it from the pinion end.

Good luck.
