If I were to fit a petrol engine in my r/c boat what do I need for it to have Neutral and Reverse? Thanks

I have had a talk with my dad and he says for neutral and forwards I could use a centrifugal clutch. This means no reverse, but I can live without that for a bit! Does anyone know where in the UK I can get these and/or how much they are? thanks

UK, I'm not sure, but here in the states, a 25cc 4hp engine is around $400-$450 with a clutch.

So, do you think my local model shop can supply me with a centrifrugal clutch? Also, do the clutches have to be ones made for the engine or can any clutch fit any engine? I am really appreciating the help, im new to the petrol engines in model boats.

They usually have to be made for the engine. As for the local hobby shop - they might, but I doubt it. It all depends on who is the owner and what kind of stuff they carry. I have to order everything for my boat online. Also, what size boat do you have? Do you have a picture?

something like that, I say buy the Homelite engine that Scorpion has in the classifieds. You want a good engine, but not something thats going to peel the paint off it.

As DD said, you want something reliable, and not too powerful. This means probably a Homie, and also a lot less $$$.
