i believe not many people know, i read on ebay auction that for regular C5 its 2,9+ hp, but question is, why is it neccesary, HP numbers are usually not very useful, unless You want just brag.
I would say that C5 has more than enaugh power

so my answer will be too much :d, if You can control Your car well it will be great, but without almost perfect controll it will be very hard to stay on the track, but as i know its wonderful engine

I dont know what the off-road versions rating is, but the modded on-road crono C5 puts out 4.5 hp and 55,000 rpm, I am not lying here!!!

That seems a little excessive. 4.5 hp? What could make use of that? I would think even a 1/8th scale would be a little over powered there. You would have a greater power to weight ratio than a full-sized Lemans GTP car and probebly suck the fuel down like a thirsty elephant.

yep, I know, but that much power in an 8th scale would be simply ballistic, I know lamberto collari was pushing close to 4 hp. and 2nd was still on the lead lap after an hour down at joyce park, so 4.5 isnt out of the question when it comes to 8th scale on-road

well...I was just wondering..the woman at the LHS..said the C5 is hard to get parts for..like the piston and sleeve...she told me to get a OS VZB V-Spec

to be truth i doubt 4,5hp, engines nowadays push about 3hp (top level engines), as i recall similar engine to that wich Collari used but without mods, pushed somewher around 3HP ( and its werks/collari not RB).

Since there are no accepted standards for HP testing of rc engines, the numbers are not comparable on an absolute basis. OS for example rates the OS18TZ at 1.8 while elsewhere its rated at 2.28hp. They choose to be conservative while most go the other way. Advertised HP numbers have long been subject to overstatement.

Comparing hp numbers unless all were tested by the same party or you know how they were tested and rated is pretty useless.

but check this out, lately since O.S has fount out how to match power without sacrificing tuning ease, they have been underating their engines, every engine since I think the v01 or v99b has been consistently more powerful on the dyno than their advertised ratings, the RG, the vz-b, the v-spec, the .12 tp, .18tz, everything has been stronger, I dont think its a hoax, but I think we should accept the caraction dyno as the standard, and the only one not to believe is xrc's dyno, they definately did something wrong because the parasitic loss is too great on all of their numbers, maybe you should go help them out steveP!!!!

also yes, go with the v-spec, its a breeze to tune, insane power, and a great intimidation factor for 8th scale buggies, but it is a 3 port motor, which means its a torquer, if you want something where the powerband isnt such a beast coming out of the corners, you could go with the P5 from novarossi, which is a 5-port, and if you want an absolute beast on all but the shortest of straights, go with the RB WS72, which is a seven port, and be forewarned that all of these engines are about 250 bux and up...

Yeah I got 500 dollars to spend on a motor and pipe..I want the OS Vspec or its between RB ws7 2...that 500 dollars needs to include motor pipe and clutch..the rb ws7 2 runs a little over 300 dollars..with a nice pipe I would say 120 bux..and a clutch set-up 60 to 70 dollars...thats right at 500 dollars..

well you could save a few dollars and go with either the JP-1 pipe for the v-spec, or the JP-2 pipe for the WS72, it runs 70 bucksand works just as good as the slightly more expensive ones, and I believe there are a few v-specs on sale on ebay for around 230-250, EBAY RULES!!!!!!!!!!

I am cautious of ebay..there are scammers..my friend bought somethig from a guy off of there...hes not into rc...it was soem nascar stuff and they never sent it to him..supposedly he had 98% positive feedback...that there made me real cautious of EBAY

the majority of R/Cer's on ebay are decent people, of all of the things I have bought/won, I havent had ANY problems, and they are like everyone else, just trying to get a great deal on some heavy stuff, and help out other r/cer's at the same time, so go for it man, if you do run into a problem, notify ebay, if they can catch the transaction, even after its gone through, you can get your money back, and I think they warn/ban the other offending party
