I am looking to upgrade my Airtronics 94102 steering servo(in a tamiya wild willy 2) to a stronger one with more torque. Heres what i have narrowed it down to:
1. 94257(110 oz of torque)
2. 94161(135 oz of torque)
3. 94258(200 oz of torque)
4. 94453(100 oz of torque)

im going to be driving on a variety of terrain(sand, street, grass, etc.) i narrowed it down to these ones because the all had atleast 100 oz of torque and they were all water resistant.
and will a futaba fail-safe(part number FUTM0990) work on my am reciever(thinking of upgrading to an xxl) anny advice?
ps- what does it mean if a servo motor is coreless?

Hey why spend so much on an airtronics servo they're overrated,I bought 2 hitec 615mg servos for my 1/8 scale buggy at $39.95 each and 110in.oz. of torque at 4.8 volts an even more if you use a 6 volt pack. These have so much torque that you must have a radio with atl to prevent them from overtravel or they almost rip themselves off their mounts.Give these a try but I reccomend a high mah battery.

My question is why spend that much dough on the anemic Wild Willy?

If you think you need all that power buy an FMA Direct servo, and save money.

Most use stock 43 oz. servos in the Wild Willy because they don't need anymore than that.

But to each his own, I'm just trying to help.

get the one with 200, its the best, but its a little overkill, all you need is 150ish, but for a widly wily, i would get the hitec 615, i am using it in my emaxx, and it gets the job done. and nicely too. only if you are racing would i spend the money on a coreless, however i am using 2 of those 200 oz of toruqe servo's in my xxx and xxxt, but for mod racing on a tight track.

I'd strongly suggest the hs-5925mg servo. Once their programming tool comes out they will be the servo everyone is using.

Oh yeah, coreless motors will last longer and are more precise at centering.

The Wild Willy is probably just fine with a standard servo because it is a play truck.
