I still have my first R/C, a DuraTrax Maximum ST.
Trying to sell it though, nothing but problems. Going to buy a RC10GT to replace it though. :D

My first "real" R/C was the Tamiya Vanessa's Lunch Box (http://www.toyexchange.addr.com/tamcars07.html) , a cool electric MT that my Dad got me when I was a bit:rolleyes: younger. My little brother got the GrassHopper (http://www.toyexchange.addr.com/tamcars02.html).
The Lunch Box was probably my favorite of all time because I was just a kid, and the money wasn't comin' out of MY pocket to pay for the repairs!!! J/K, tho'... "Vanessa's Box" was a tough little truck, and the only problems I had was keepin' the batteries charged.
I had a BLAST with that truck... I wonder where she is now....???;)

my first car was a Tamiya "Wild One"
basically the same car as the attack vehicle. I didnt have that for to long. I couldnt seem to get it to run right. everytime I drove it something broke on it.
then sortly after that car I aquired a Tamiya Grasshopper that a friend of my older sisters left over the house and never came back to get. I still have have that car and I'm sure if I charge a battery and put batteries in the remote it'll run althoughI havent ran it in several years

I dont remember exactly, it was probably '91 or '92, but i had a white bodied, yellow shocked tamiya buggy, with white dish wheels, spike tires, and a very big (BIG) electronic circuit board, with 3 metal strips acting as heatsinks for the giant circuit board. Lost the controller for it, basically never remembered running it.
Anyone have any idea what this might have been?

MILLER_MP6,
Lookin' to get rid of that Black Foot??? I just got an old one from my Bro', which I am fixin' up to be my son's first rig. It has a broken front arm, and I am in the process of fabricating a replacement, but would love to have some other parts to have for the unavoidable oops that will undoubtedly happen. I know this truck is well out-dated, but since it still runs pretty good, and has a kickin' motor(by Yokomo), I think it will be a great first R/C for him. In a few months, for his b-day, he'll be getting something new, but for now I'd like him to get the feel of how to run a "real" R/C. I should have it up-and-running in a day, or so. Let me know... I'd appreciate it, either way... Thanks!!!
tranced,
Follow this LINK (http://www.toyexchange.addr.com/tamcars01.html) , it will take you to a Tamiya R/C Collector site. You can look thru the list of models towards the bottom, and possibly find your ride.;)

My first car was a 1/8 4wd Pirate (forget who made it) with a .21 Nitro engine. I bought it in 1995 and never drove it for more than about 15 or 20 minutes before I broke it :)
Back then, there was virtually no information available on running these things, so when I broke in the engine (with a prop), I got a glob of JBWeld stuck in the gas return valve on the Tuned Pipe so I basically screwed the engine up trying to start it...
I promptly dropped the hobby at that point.
A couple of months ago, I decided to try and get back in, so I ordered a Duratrax Axis a few weeks ago and got it in 3 days ago. I hope to burn in the engine today if it warms up enough.
I also ordered a Duratrax Evader BX Pro since I wanted a electric powered car as well (less downtime and more fun time). If I really like it a lot, I might buy a TC4 and get into racing at the local indoor track.
As a kid, I loved these things (from Radio Shack) but usually broke them since I was a little crazy with them :)

My first kit was an original Blackfoot that my dad bought for me in 1987. Loved that truck and beat the crap out of it. I think the only thing I ever replaced were the wheels. That was one tough truck!

Blast from the past!
Im about to date mysel, but I would say, it was either a Tyco Bandit that I got slightly used for $10, or a Radio Shack Golden Arrow. I was only 12 when I got my first real RC. Niether of those 2 cars can be found for very cheap in good condition now days. They seem to be pretty well saught after. After tht, was when the Rustler came out with its mechanical speed control and paint it yourself bodies. After that, its just been a blurr, but I did notice I spent ALOT of money on RC, at last count had about 40 cars come and go.

my first RC car was a Nikko Buggy, then a Tyco Penszoil Indy Car, then I was given an orignal Wild Willy, which I ran twice and promptly smashed the front end and couldn't find parts to rebuild it. Then I got an RC10 Gold Pan. Had that and raced that for years. Then I got a RC10T3, then an RC10T4, and then a Traxxas Stampede, and now all I have left is the Stampede and an Associated SC10. The Traxxas was a kit also.
