Also, I'd try some TakeOff CS-27's, they're good on asphalt in those kind of temps. I'm not too sure if a Sorex 24R would work very well, though, it might be a bit too hot for those(& when it is too hot for a given compound, it'll tend to feel greasy pretty early in a run, so the car might feel ok at first but get progressively worse as you go, plus it'll also tend to wear out faster if it's hotter than what it can handle), but I imagine a 28R should be fine.....

Sorex are the BEST tire s in the market right now...However, 24R...no way...I agree with Grizzbob, you should try 28R or higher. You should consider the inserts too, they make a huge difference in handling and grip. Try HPI molded green or red for inserts, make sure you pre-treat your tires with a traction compund (sun tan lotion, WD-40) and pre heat them too. I usually have 10 -15 different tire/insert combinations at hand because track temperature changes drastically in a few hours. Finding the right combination is what makes your car handle properly. Tires are the most important factor in a car set up.[QUOTE]

I have run both rubber and foam on my x-ray on asphalt with surprising results. I had faster lap times with foam tires. I don't use any traction compund, just dry foams. Purple all the way around. I can ususally get 12-15 runs on one set of tires.

The same handling effects of changing tire pressure in 1:1 scale racing cars can be achieved by changing inserts in your RC car. A good way to get your tires and inserts in the ballpark for a new track is simply ask the fast guys what they are running. Odds are they are all running the same or close to the same things.

As long as they fill the tire & don't collapse under the stress of cornering they should be fine, but as always, different surfaces(& different textured surfaces) as well as different temps will determine what's best for that track. And as always, the real experts you should ask about that are the fast guys at THAT track, they'll have the most experience with that surface by far(all we can really do is guess if we haven't raced on that track)....
