OK, I bought an RC Hydro off Ebay. I know it is basically a toy, but I'm thinking of upgrading it. It has dual 380 size motors. NO rudder/servo!. It turns by cutting power to one of the props! I missed that part in the auction. Yes, it is basically a glorified Nikko. My question is, "Is it worth upgrading?". I would have to basically gut it, and start fresh I think. I'm thinking it would be easier to just replace the motors with a single 540 size.
Or am I just wasting time and money with this? I do have a Llumar on it's way to me. :D
Here's the boat: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=5976528335&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT

I've seen several of those on eBay. They're really not worth trying to fix up. They turn by using vector thrust, the same thing that some backyard fliers are using. The included ESC probably can't handle more power that what's already in there. Enjoy it for what it is.
I just looked at the ad. Boy, sorry, but what a joke! I'd say that the speed is a lot closer to 10 MPH than it is to 30. $35.00 shipping? I've shipped two complete 3.5 OB tunnels including radio systems across the US for less than $9.00 via UPS each. For what you spent, you could have gotten a better boat for the money at your LHS.

Sounds to me like someone is trying to make a killing on a boat that's worth about $15. Like Horizon's Pro Boat Buds and Llumars, this outfit is trying for the "Wow, that looks _________________(you fill in the blank)" response and the associated "I want one" to make about 300% profit. Hate to say it, but I agree with Ron, you got took.
