Usually you have to settle for the right prop for your boat, no matter what it is made from. stainless is the toughest but also the hardest to work with. A lot of Beryllium Copper props are confused with brass as you don't see brass used much anymore except in scale ship applications.

yeah but stainless looks the best once polished (I think)

I agree that stainless looks the best and properly balanced and sharpened, it probably also works the best with nitro and gas boats. But, stainless, as Ron pointed out, is the hardest to work with and it's also more expensive.

thanks guys, I think I'll go with stainless if possible. It seems it would hold a sharpening better than the softer materials. Scorpien I agree stainless does look better polished out :D . Now that I know what material to use what prop would you recomend for a 48" V running a mild modded homelite 30cc and xp strut/rudder combo.

Stainless is hard to find in other brands besides Prather. In their line try a 280 and put a Barr Cut on it. Very simple & easy mod. Still maintains the pitch but lets it rev good while accelerating.

This is an example of one. You can make it wider & a tad deeper.Find Post #65 & there is a Barr Cut (http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/showthread.php?t=191585&page=3&pp=25&highlight=Barr+Cut)
