I got ahold of some aluminum sheets and decided to try making a panel for my Revo's gas tank. It's a lot lighter, and seems to work well. I have enough aluminum to completely cover the truck 15 times :D

If this works pretty well, I'll do a DIY if anyone is interested. I have a few more panels to try. I'll have to perfect the fit and finish on it, this was my first attempt.

Are you saying the aluminum plate is lighter than the plastic plate of the same design? I don't see how that would be possible.

DIY aluminum parts are fun to make and look ok for things such as what you made, but don't go crazy and end up with a 20 pound chunk of aluminum on wheels.

Lexan is fun too.

Yeah... I want to learn how to use lexan.. I tried it once and ended up melting it into a warped ball..

I used to own car audio stores and had to form it for installation, however it was a lot thicker than what would be used here.
