I am looking for any advice/suggestions. I have a small plot of land (50 x 30 feet), and I want to set up an oval dirt track for RC cars. I haven't raced anything small before, so I need suggestions for the type of car, track set-up and any thoughts you might be able to provide. Ideally, I want something that looks and races like the sprint cars do.
Thanks!

That's a pretty small area, probably even too small for a 1/18th scale track.
I think your best bet would be 1/28th scale mini-z's in that small of an area.

That's a little tight 1/10th scale oval, but you could do it. That's a big area for a 1/18th scale car. I've driven in my parent's 30'x30' driveway and it's snug, but you could set something up in a slightly larger area.
You might want to consider a 4WD 1/18th scale truck, possibly with a dirt modified body (Buy dirt oval trucks look cool too). That way you could have a larger relative track, and the 4WD will be easier to get and hold sideways than a 2WD.

Thanks. I can go up a bit in area for 1/10th scale. What would be a reccomended minimum oval size? I based my intitial plot size on a 10' track width and a short-track feel.
On the other hand, the 1/18 th seems appealing too. What is a minimum track width for that scale? I could create a larger oval with a road-course option, but I want to be sure I don't make the track too narrow for good racing.

Well, if you want more than a smallish oval or a tight roadcourse, you will want to go 1/18th scale.
Try this: get some graph paper and mark the outline of your yard to scale. Then experiment with some designes, keeping the width and lengths in mind. If you can, drive the area with a car and see what 'feels' good.

Will do. Is there a minimum track width for the 1/18 scale car? Once I know that, I can draw out a course based on the scale from there.
