Hmm. Tough question. My method would probably be growing money on trees. I've heard Banzai trees work well for this.

Seriously, if your parents are like mine and you have to basically pay for everything except rent, start mowing lawns. It's good money and one of the few you can easily get into when you're under 16. Once you turn 16 you can get a regular job.

somehow, i have nearly $1000 in only three years too. i guess im good at saving. but yea, lawns would be awesome..ask your parents what you can do for money if you havent already. i wouldnt doubt theyd happily give you something.

i have asked. they said i could vaccum the house=$10, mow the lawn=$20 and some other sh*t. i am the laziest person ever. im the kind of person who is very very smart but will grow up to be a guy who sits on the couch watching tv and drinking beer all day(i have not tasted alcohol). IDEA, i can become a hobo and beg for money on the street or find someone to race and bet money

the lazy attitude isnt gonna help you at all to get the money you need to support this hobby

so if you want to earn money your gonna have to get down on your hands and knees and get dirty and do the yardwork,,just ask nieghbors and your parents of what you can do, also save your money! dont spend it on crap stuff! if you really want your parts, car , or whatever youll sace it.

Yeah I think being a hobo sounds like a good job. Around where I live there are tons of hobos and it looks like they make some prety descent cash. It is almost like a buisiness because there are other people who just trade of corners and use the same sign. Either that or mow lawns, I mow lawns and you can get quite a bit of money.

With that mind set, you will grow up to be that type of person. Better start when your young or pay the price later on in life.

Damn you!

I was gonna say you could sell rocks on the corner but you beat me to it!

And since when has yard work = you getting muddy. Just pull weeds, mow the lawn, etc. Washing cars, baby sitting (even though it can suck), and asking relatives if you can do anything for a few bucks always turn out some decent money. And usually grandparents will pay you a bit extra just because they can ;)

Mowing lawns is probably where you make the most money (until gas prices went up), shoveling snow (for those in areas that get alot of snow) picking up returnable cans and bottles (5-10cents addss up). Then parents may kick in a few bucks if they notice you are saving, or doing something towards getting things you want.

I mowed lawns all summer long to buy my first guitar and amp back in 1989. Luckily we had a big yard, so my parents had a riding tractor. I made almost $500.00 one summer cutting grass. Easy work compared to what else is out there if you ask me......

When I was your age, I mowed lawns and had a paper route. I was pretty lazy, too... but R/C was a motivation to get off my butt and earn some cash. I've pretty much been working since I was 12.

There's no real secret solution to your problem. It kind of sounds like you're looking for someone to give you the magical hint that will get you $$$ without having get off the couch. Your options are fairly obvious at your age: Take your parents up on their offer. Assuming you don't live in a 4000 sq ft house, vacuum the place. It doesn't take long. Mow the lawn and talk to your neighbors about mowing theirs. Ask your parents to reward your assertiveness by allowing you to use their equipment and gas at no charge. If you see someone whose yard has a ton of weeds, offer to pull them for a fee (just make sure you don't insult them by pointing out how awful their yard looks).

Truthfully, mowing lawns ought to keep you plenty busy. If you cut two or three every weekend, you're only investing 2 - 3 hours of your time and you could net $60 - $90, depending on what they're willing to pay you.

But whatever you decide, it will require work ;) .

It had to come to this..??..

If you seriously want to earn some extra cash then you will..
Theres Heaps of things you can do.
as stated above you could do neighbour hood Lawn Jobs, wash cars,a paper rout.
Heck even Sell AVON or Amway...
whatever It takes...

Your (Lazy) attitude Needs adjusting if you want to be taken seriously..

05-27-2005, 10:05 AM
My 1st cousin had your same attitude when we were your age. I got a paper route, ushered at the local threatre, mowed lawns and washed&waxed cars. He didn't, was totally lazy and is still totally lazy in GA state prison. I've got 3 college degrees, am a consultant making a boat load of money with a paid for house and the life style that goes with being successful. Life is going to give you back what you put into it - no free lunch out there (unless your folks are really rich and already pretty old).

Sorry to be sound cynical, but I used to deal with younger people at work and their attitude that they were owed something just because they were here got old real quickly. Especially when they were as dumb as dirt on top of the bad attitude.

maybe if you just did the work around the house, your mom will give you everything you want when you want. instead of making it seem like a job and needing to do it only when you need parts. you're lucky you get paid to do those things. when i was growing up, i had to do those things without pay. maybe not requiring you to them in the first place is what made you lazy!

being lazy gets you nowhere and gets you nothing!

Im with TBone on this...I've had a job since I was 12..first a paper route, then worked a summer helping the maintenance crew in our condo complex painting porches...whatever it took.

On the other hand, laziness could be a calling if you are investing in your future as an efficiency expert/consultant. I've pretty much made my living my exploiting my laziness to determine best practice methodoligies. It's amazing how far you can go by trying to figure out how to do everything with the least amount of steps/work...hhahahahaha

I used to work at a Dominoes store. What I did is called doohanging, they give you coupons and drop you off in a neighborhood, you just have to put a coupon on all the houses in that area. When I was done I just called them and they sent someone to pick me up. I did it everyday after school, and got minimum wage.

leoboy254- Besides mowing and vacuuming, you can wash peoples' cars, rake their lawns, babysit, etc. There's tons of things to do that have money in it, you just have to be willing to do it.;) Another tip, and it was said already, do stuff for your parents just for being helpful. They'll remember what you've done for them when you want something.;)

(Cue up old codger music)

I started with mowing lawns and raking grass, removing leaves, etc. As other neighbors found out about this, I got more work.

Put the money in the bank, kept working, housesitting, dog walking, basically anything that would make money.

That money got me through college and I have no debts (college related anyway, R/C is another story entirely!) to pay off.

Of ocurse, this is America, lazy broke people get money by sueing a faceless corporation.

dude im 14... i dont get anything for doing chores other than 50 a month for keeping my room clean...which almost never happens, and doing everything else. we have a riding lawnmower and a huge lawn but i dont get individual pay for anything. what i suggest...and i know your lazy and crap but do it anyways...make professional looking flyers telling neighbors that you can and will do odd jobs to lawnwork. anything basically. i get 25 bucks to mow one old ladies lawn. thats everyweek. 25*4 is 100 bucks a month for one lawn!! just think about all the other lawns. and its not that hard once you do it. plus you get in shape for the ladies  i was once lazy like you but i finally reallized i wont get anywhere in life so i did stuff. now im the person thats all hands on. i take place in tech classes at my school, work on cars, lawnmowers, motorcycles, you name it ill fix it. and thats what the people like. oh and ya one tip, when you do mow lawns and other things, be possitive to the people you are mowing for. a simple smile at the door will get you respect, more money, and get them to hire you again. little things like that help alot. anyone agree??

when i first got into r/c my dad would only pay for the things that broke on acident (like when you hit a boulder doing WOT and flip your truck into a ditch braking the hole front suspinsion and a couple of shocks :D ). anyway that went on for a year. then i had to start taking my own $$$ out of my bank account, since i started breaking stuff(damn rocks  ). after i got a job as a dishwasher//kitchen prep 2 1/2 months ago he has tottaly cut me off. but the good thing is, i get $400 every other week and by working there for about 3 months i have about $1000 that i have saved. and even though the job sucks, all the ppl at my work are nice and fun to work with, but i also work for my r/c passion (and trying to keep my car from falling aport LITERALY). now i dont have to worry about asking him for anything (unless its off ebay) because i have so much $$$. just last week i bought a used tc3 for $250 with out asking my parents for $$$. what im trying to say is if you aply yourself by working your a$$ off you wont regret it at all. it will be worth it. so get off you computer and go get some $$$.

Well Leoboy, It sounds like you have a good plan. The yardwork may be your best bet, that way you can burn calories and earn money at the same time. I know how you feel, I am an adult ( that has'nt completely grown up ) and have the ability to earn pretty good money, but with everything else I have to pay for, it is not always easy to come up with money to buy toys.

I had an idea for you, maybe you could take your RC car out and charge other kids in your neighborhood a small fee to take it for a little test drive.
I don't know maybe 50 cents a minute or something like that.
