Hello everyone. I am about to get into the RC boat arena. I've been reading through this website and am very impressed. I've been racing RC electric Cars for a little while. My hobby for most of my life has been working on cars though (REAL ONES). I hope I haven't screwed up already at this hobby. I got ansey and bought a Proboat Llumar. It is my first boat. I know little to nothing about nitro motors. I also have an electric hydro I found on Ebay on the way to me. It has dual 380 motors, but I plan on gutting most of it and modding it. I am active duty Air Force stationed in England, and have to mail order 95% of anything I want (British pound vs. US dollar exchange rate SUX!).
Anyways, here is a link to the Llumar noat I bought.

It has an upgraded prop (y535), upgraded rudder servo, and supposedly a modded engine. I want to start buying some runing gear to have when it shows up. Do you have any suggestions? I know I want to get a spare glo plug or two, but not sure if they are all universal or not. Which one is the best for my dynamite motor? I will be full of lots of questions as I go. The boat isn't even here yet.

Not sure how broken in this boat is, so I will play it safe and break it in some more.

Anyways, thanks for any advice you can throw at me. Still learning a lot of the terms that leaving me scratching my head.

No, the glow are not all the same, plugs range from cold to hot. Different brands as well
All depends on what type of engine you end up putting in the hull.

Keep the questions coming, plenty of us here to help you. ;)

So a dynamite .15 that is found in the Llumar?

The #8 says it is the most popular.

The medium heat range plug is ideal for use with all .12 - .15 size engines.

Have a look at this site:

Thanks guys, I'm going to get some #8's on order. Still waiting on the boat to show! :) I got my electric yesterday. It's pretty much one step up from a Nikko. :(

Check out the Hobby Shops in England, they have some good ones over there and it would beat the hassle of importing.

Have you seen the British pound to US dollar exchange rate lately?

I will be able to pick up knick-knacks and small stuff (lke nitro that I can't get shipped), but thats about it. Way too expensive. That, and there are only a couple hobby-shops within a reasonable drive from me. I could probably pick up a simple glo-plug though. Probably £9-£10 ($18-$20) I CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN THE THE U.S. OF A.!

Yeah, but you should be getting some type of Cost of Living Allowence (COLA) to help offset these type of things. Quit drinking it away in the pub & go buy you a boat:D Many shops are willing to ship to an APO addy just got to ask them. (just pulling your chain a little but speaking the truth too.) :)

Yeah, the COLA makes up for a little. Anyone that has received it knows that it doesn't COVER it though. Yeah, found plenty of places that are willing to ship to my APO via USPS. I just hate waiting 2 weeks to get anything.

Steer clear of pubs, they are somewhat expensive (£), and lately we've had a rash of fights breaking out on Fri/Sat nights. Brits are rowdy! :)

Anyways, it doesn't kill the hobby, just puts a pain in the process.......

GOT MY LLUMAR IN THE MAIL YESTERDAY! :)
