I have an Evader ST and I need to rebuild the shocks. Does anyone know what weight of oil is in the stock shocks? They seem to work fine for me, so why mess with what works. All I do is general bashing, with the occasional stop at the track. And what ESC/Motor combo would you recomend for longer runtimes and more power. I'm thinking brushless, but that means $$$$. And I only have $. So anything else? And one last question. How do I change crystals on my Futaba MS 2PH Magnum radio? Is it the thing on the front right with the frequency printed on it? Thanks.

I believe that the stock shocks had 30wt oil in them. If your are low on cash then a stock motor would be a good choice for bashing and an occasional race. Because if you race with anything else most of the time you will be put in the mod class. And if you want to be competitive then you need a good motor which costs lots of $ that you dont have. The trinity p2k2 is a good choice. Your stock esc will handle a stock motor so you dont have to buy a new esc and a stock motor will give you good run times. To change the crystal i do believe that you have to remove the cover that has the channel on it to get to the actual crystal. Then all you have to do is pull the crystal out and put the new one in. Make sure that the new crystal is the right modulation and frequency.

I was thinking p2k2 after reading an article in RC Car Action about the ready to run Losi and Associated trucks and thats the motor they used. Is there an advantage to going brushless that justifys the cost? Because if there is I could cancel my rockcrawler project.

Brushless is fast, efficient, and almost maintenance-free. It's great, it really is. Put a Novak SS5800 system in your evader and go race some nitros. :)

Will it cost less than a Super Rooster and 2 540 motors and 2 servos for a rockcrawler?

Well, possibly. It's available brand new at Tower Hobbies (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDDD7&P=0) for $225. You can also buy a refurbished system straight from Novak (http://www.shopatron.com/product/product_id=NOVR3005/135.0.7565.7521.0.0.0) for $165. I am thinking that if I ever buy a second SS5800 system for a second vehicle, I'll get a refurbished one. A very good deal IMO, since a refurbished system should perform just like new.

Will I have to upgrade to metal gears/top shaft in my tranny to avoid tranny meltdown with a brushless system?

I doubt it. However, you may want to wait until LRP/Reedy and Novak release their new BL systems, which will probably be in a few weeks for LRP and near late July/early August for the Novak.
