I need some info here, but so far I've got no response from this question. Here is a specific example. Can I use Futaba crystals with an Airtronics reciever? If I want to use a Futaba radio with an Airtronics reciever, should I use both Futaba crystals, both Airtronics crystals, or should I use Futaba Tx with Airtronics Rx? What is the story of this subject? I've never heard anything concrete about this. PLEASE clear this up, somebody!

Here is a simple answer, no you cannot use futaba crystals with a airtronics receiver, also you cannot use an airtronics reciever with a futaba transmiter.
it depends......
can't really be more specific, some mix, some don't, have to test

Can I use Futaba crystals
with an Airtronics reciever?
I have used Futaba crystals in an Airtronics reciever on FM with a Futaba Tx. I use this in my RS4, but I don't race it so I can't comment on how well it will do with possible interference during a race.

Yes, I know that acidpee. And rvrrun, my response was mainly to Distro. I know I should've said that, sorry.
I totally agree, rvrrun. I don't see why they wouldn't work, so I'm going to test out some combinations today with a Futaba Tx, Airtronics Rx, and crystals from both companies on the same frequency (66). We'll see what happens now.

Nairb,
Ooops, spouting my big mouth off and you weren't even talking to me... oh well.
The only thing I don't know about is getting hit by interference, but it can't be any worse than changing to a different frequency than the one your radio was tuned for.

Am I sure? I'm glad you asked, I must have been dreaming. These naps in the middle of the day seem to increase exponentionally with age.

Of course... I'm positive that this worked for me. The F.C.C. regulates radio transmission rigorously, one of the reasons tampering with your Rx/Tx is warned against. Barring frequency drift and manufacturing tolerances, it would be my guess that one manufacturers crystal on channel 90 would be the same as any others that follows F.C.C regs.

you cant put 27mhz crystals into a radio that originally is setup for 75mhz crystals.

You can use different crystals in like a novak reciever can't you? If that is true then that most likely means that you could mix airtronics and futaba.

In the novak recievers they are branded futaba or airtronics for the types of transmitters, in those recievers you have to use aitronics or futaba crystals.
