Comm drops aren't really needed. You might find them useful at the highest level of racing, but that's about it. If you insist on using them, just put one drop on the comm. Whenever I use comm drops I use TRIBO, available at www.team-paradigm.com

Some racers swear by comm drops, but most see no need for it. Often the effects of the drops only lasts for the first couple seconds of the race.

Comm drops works as a lubricant for the brushes. It is good to use when you have cut the comm and apply new brushes because it helps with a quicker break in. After 20 seconds the effect is over, and most racers will use them because it will give you a boost at the starting line to get to the first turn. Alot of people do not like them because it may cause the comm to blacken.

I use comm drops lube during motor breakin and as an afterrun procedure. When you install new brushes it helps to lubricate them.

During motor breakin I use a RPM motor stand which is setup for dual motors. I use an old motor running in reverse to turn the new motor so that the brushes seat to the comm. It is best to breakin a new motor without power to it "So I have read" and that is what I do.

When I clean the motor after running I lube the bearings/bushings with the drops because the bearings/bushings oil is washed away with motor cleaner. You should at least use an oil to lube the bearings/bushings of the motor.

I use Trinity break-in drops when I install new brushes and only then. For basic motor maintenance I true my comm every 7 runs and swap out my brushes when needed, roughly 10 runs or so.

If you are breaking in new brushes do not use a break in stand that uses a slave motor. Trinity and a number of other companies make stands that use a fan. A slave motor turns the motor you are breaking in into a generator; not good for the motor.

After every run I pull the motor out, take off the springs, pull out the brushes and spray the motor out. Then run a comm brush over the comms to clean it off; put the brushes back in, springs back on and oil the bushings(bearings) and through it back in the car. I don't see a need for comm drops, they do seem to temporarily increase RPM, but it is only temporary. Basic and thorough maintenance abd tuning will do so much more for you than comm drops.

As I remember it, Tribo is not to be used during break-in and proper seating of the brushes. Only after you have finished correctly seating the brushes should you use tribo, and use it VERY sparingly especially in stock motors. Never put tribo on brushes that already have some other comm drop on them.

I use tribo exclusively and it works great. 1 bottle will last a LONG time. For my stocker I actually put a tiny drop on the brush and work it in a bit and wipe off the excess, this works the best for me with stock motors as too much tribo can be bad.

heh, comm drops only help for the first bit of the race, unless you devise a system to keep a constant supply pouring in. I have watched someone pour 1/2 bottle of comm drops on *my* motor, it started strong, but ran normal after about 30 seconds.

I 've been trying different brands over the years including the Tribo (ordering directly from manufacturer) and the Zubaks speed and the breakin drops. Still feel that they give a temporary or false sense of actually working. In many instances I could contribute the gains to something else I did or was able to drive the race cleaner. Using them as a holeshot or in the case of batteries (hit them at a higher amp so you have more punch at the start) if you can get away clean at the start of the race and drive cleanly for the whole race maybe.

Then I know a fellow racer who swears by them, based on dyno results - if he could drive as well maybe he would see better results.
