why do you not see any off road race trucks with chrome rims. seems like everyone uses dishes like the velocity dish by proline. is there a weight difference?? are chrome rims legal for racing?? just curious.
thanks http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

They are legal to use but i don't think anyone wants to use them when they are racing. I race off-road and the only time my truck has chrome rims on it is for show. My personal opinion is i like the dish look by far then i do the Chrome 3 star rims or any chrome rims on a off-roader. If i was racing on-road it would be a different story.

I think the Chrome Rims and the Dish Rims are for personal choice.

I run crome rims on my Gt all the time. I run the RPM 3 spoke front and rear.
The advantages were they look nice as **** , that you can reach between the spokes to pop ball cups back on, and they are durable- I've never broken or striped one.
The disadvantages are that crome can become worn quickly, new wheels can have uneven crome plating(I have questions about the quality of the crome plating sometimes), sticks and other debris can become caught in the spokes, and they do not hold up well when removing used tires from them.
The last 2 reasons are why I will be runnining solid dish type wheels this racing season. If you are just bashing around, I'd say go for it! They are sweet looking!
