I have a rustler and today when i was drving it i noticed the connection between the ESC (duratrax sprint) and the battery (duratrax shark 1500) was really hot. Is this bad or normal if it is bad what should I do?
thanx

This is NOT GOOD. I assume you are using standard tamiya connectors, they have a rather large resistance, and can make the wires heat up, the best thing to do is get some high quality connectors, like Deans Ultra Plugs. They can be a bit hard to solder, but are well worth the change.

What he said... ;)
It's typical of tamiya connectors to overheat sometimes to the point where they actually melt together. Ditch em for some high quality connectors...

I have also had the Tamiya-type plugs melt together. I now use Deans and will nevr go back! They are not really that hard to solder if you go about it the right way. I always use vise-grips to hold the plug while I solder. Be sure to lightly tin the plug and wire with solder first, then place your iron on the plug to heat that solder, then romove the iron, place the wire on/in the solder on the plug, and again hold the iron on them until you feel them bond together. You'll know when you get it right. But, most importanty, you need to have vise grips or something similar.

A paiir of needle nose vise-grips to hold the deans connector will make soldering alot easier .

If you want to make it really easy i suggest investing in a third hand tool to make things a little easier. Most hobby shops have them in their model and building material supply sections.

when you go to buy the deans plugs, what is better to get, the ones with the wires attached or the ones with no wires in them at all?

What about them Andersom Powerpoles? I've heard they have less resistance if you crimp them. Is this true or was I lied to?

I wouldn't say you were lied to, but I'm not sure if they're actually have LESS resistance if you crimp them. I think there are conflicting views on that topic. Basically, you could crimp or solder them and get good results.

i use these(also known as sermos) and i solder rather than crimp(better connection)
