why do you not see any off road race trucks with chrome rims. seems like everyone uses dishes like the velocity dish by proline. is there a weight difference?? are chrome rims legal for racing?? just curious.

Crome rims coast about dubble of dish rims, so it makes sense if you are going TO make a lot of tire changes to just buy the liter, cheaper($$ wise)stuf.

While the chrome rims like the RPM talons etc are practically indestructible they are very heavy compared to dishes. Also they hold in more dirt. The dishes are designed to not pick up and hold on to dirt. So basically the chrome rims look better most of the times but the dishes are much more practical and cost effective for racing.

May repeat here. Dish rims dont like to hold dirt like open rims do, open rims can get inside and even make the car dirtier. Chrome tends to chip away, and no one likes ugly rims for the podium picture, ok, well, we like to be conservative with tires and we dont want ugly flaked rims. Theyre also lighter because its a basic shape, and usually stay rounded (stronger) in extreme conditions. This is at least me talking. And I heard theyre more aerodynamic, but I really dont care if they are or arent...I dont think it will make you a better driver.
