i know this is probably the most asked question in the whole freakin world.. but i have to ask it.. but i'm not a total newbie either..
i was in this hobbie a couple yrs back.. and i jumped right in with an inferno mp5.. (massive over kill) and it was a very bad expierence.. i was outta the game after 2 months and theres a long story that goes with it.. but anyways.. i'm weary of nitro.. but i wanna get back into this now..
i'm lookin at HPI's.. either the electric MT or the nitro MT.
i was thinkin about eletric cuz of my poor previous expierence with nitro.. but i've been reading around alot and i guess there are failsafes now that bring the servo back to idle if your signal goes (happened on my mp5 and it was a total loss after that).. but i am still weary of nitro.. i know what is involved with runnin nitro.. but is it safer now.. is the fail safe a sure thing?.. that is the only problem i have with nitro that makes me look into electric. i cant stand watching another car destory itself cuz i cant control it at all...
now i've never run electric so i wanna ask what equipment is needed to run electric? other than car, battery, motor, radio set, esc.. is there anything else? and how does the wiring work out between the ESC, rx, servo, and motor?. i mean what conects to what?.. like on a nitro car the 2 servos connect up to the rx on the car and a battery also goes on the rx.. how does the esc and motor hook up?... i just wanna see what i'm in for if i go this route, if there is alota wiring or anything of that sort.. also i know this is hard to answer but whoever reads this and runs electric.. can you tell me your average run time for your car?.. i was thinkin if i went electric i could pick up 2-3 of those 3000 mAH nickel metal hydride packs.. and i'd be pretty well set to mess around whenever i felt like playing...
can you guys give me some opinions.. BTW this is just gonna be for fun.. no racing..
Thanks for any help
