Yes, oneways on carpet is for rubber tire racing. It's the only way to go. But with foams, you must have a diff. Well... if you want to be fast, then you need a diff. If you want to just drive around and have fun and not be competitive... then anything goes.. haha...

Does anyone have anything to say about a Xray EVO2? Are they a good or bad investment?

JimmyMac
11-04-2005, 09:00 PM
If you are new to Touring cars, the XRay can be very confusing. It is a very precise car with some adjustments that can get you lost. However, it is about the highest quality car you can buy. And very durable. I've seen Mark P race his and take a licken and keep on ticken.. haha..

JimmyMac
11-06-2005, 06:44 PM
Yeah, Charlie is kinda new to Touring cars. He was trying to race his EvoIV on carpet yesterday with a oneway since he doesn't have a diff. I kept telling him to take Calvin's rear diff from his car and put it up front in Charlie's. But he wouldn't do it.. hehe Had I brought my Tamiya parts, I would have loaned him mine.

let's get thru the carpet season first! LOL. good to hear you found your handling gremlins. mine are still with me...sort of. having quite a fit with the rear end....it wants to swing out all the time. got that "floaty" feeling to it. (no , not gas!). have you seen the wood's new layout? looks very good this year..i hope they keep it (or one like it).
this week-end looks to be a free one. i sure hope so! i need to time for myself! (and a nice new can of ground effects! LOL)
this week, i wanna mix it up a bit. plan on bringing an old fav and an old nemesis to the track. yep! i get to race my old x-ray from back in the day! the T1! i was pretty fast with it in mooresville, lets see how i do with it now-a-days! i always felt the x-ray was the best tourer ever made, now let's see how "grandpa" fares against these noo-skool cars. HAHA!!! and yes i'll have the ole tc3 with me too. car's not been too bad on asphalt but on carpet....FUGHITABOUTIT!!!! i have the worst luck with it! well lemme stop blabberin an give somebody else a chance to post!

mark....you have any 30mm zero off-set foams? hmmmm...perhaps something in a 30 to 35 rear shore?

Okay, I get all confused with all these different threads, and everyone talking about all the different tracks. Of course, I tend to stay confused these days...

I'm planning on getting back into racing right after Christmas. Electric touring cars probably. So, where is the place to race? Somebody PM or e-mail me with the details, if you don't mind, and if possible a web site with a schedule or something. chad@cosmo-graphics.com

Hey fellas looking to join the charter so that I can be well informed for the next race season. I was there 2 years ago, when I believe you guys held the nationals at RCSpeedway. We were the guys trying to race on sunday, and causing you guys slow laps due to being all over the track :D

The location was perfect 'cause I live right off of Trinity & Avondale. After nationals it was pretty hard to keep track of you guys. One week I would be on 70 and I would notice people on the driver's stand, then the next week there would be no shows.

give me a holla on the "Wood" u guys keep mentioning - Where, when, wazzzupp.

We will be starting back sometime in March, watch this thread for more info. We race in season every other week on Sunday.

The Wood is just this side of Goldsboro in the Rosewood community, racing every Saturday inside on the carpet for the winter. Racing starts at 3pm. For more info look on the Rosewood thread on this board.

I tried to contact you multiple times without reply. While i don't mean to stain your reputation, I'm sure you would think the same if you were in my position.

I'm glad that some dialogue has been opened.

Frank next time please reframe from posting on here unless it has to do with TRACC or the track in Durham, we are not the police and this forum is not the place for any of the above. I understand both side very well, but I do ask that next time you not discuse the matter at hand, but just ask for information on a fellow racer, instead of what you posted about stolen goods, as some one else may see that as a reflection on TRACC and it's members. Brad I've known you for a long while and I'll ask for you not to attack some one else on this forum as well, for the same reason of it coming back and making TRACC or it's memebers look bad..

Thanks

Hey if your car had 12 year old hoses, you might have one blow out too. Besides. it got so hot it stopped running, but once it cooled off, it restarted and ran fine. It's still running good. It's got 130,000 + miles on it and it'll still spin the tires.
As for the heartbeat, I may be wrong but didn't the beat DIE in the F bodied GM cars???? Seeing as I can still by a 'Stang but not a Camaro or Firebird.

All in all though, I'd rather have a Stage 1.

tarheelquality
12-01-2005, 09:27 AM

You should be able to work Thursday night. I don;t think we are planning on leaving till Friday AM for Mimi's and on the Debbie's race we may not leave till later than that.
What do ya think Mark? wanna try and make Debbie's a one day trip? I am fine with going up and practicing on Friday too though. That damn pole there sucks and could use some practice time.

Do you plan on running 1/12 this weekend?

jtn

oh probably not. But we'll see. I really need to do somethign different about a 1/12th. This thing barely made it through last weekend and was a handful to drive. I really need to do something if we are going to run Mod with them this summer.

billy....maybe one week-end it'll happen 'specially if glenn starts opening the track on fridays. it's rare i can make it to the wood. but when i do, i'd much rather make it a week-end thing. one or two race days a season is nowhere near enough (for me) to be competitive down there.

Ron Zee
12-20-2005, 09:57 PM
It's been awhile since you were last there at the Wood no? When Glenn gets the addition finished (sometime after Feb.) he'll be there open everyday at the hobby shop so the track will be "open" too.

I just hope I make it out to Durham a little more often next year.

Both are great radios. You might even consider the KO Propo Helios as well. Now a comment on the 3pk (seeing as that's what I current use)... depends on the PCM version or HRS version. The HRS version comes with a receiver that requires Digital servos. If you don't use digital servo's with the HRS receiver... you'll end up frying the servo. But if you get the PCM version.. then you can use whatever servo you want. Of course if you go with Spektrum, then it doesn't matter. You'll need the Spektrum receiver. I've seen the 3pk sold in Hong Kong with Spektrum for about $350.

Anyways, both are great. Just ask a few of us at the track if you can feel our radios. Then see what feels best for you.

Then again, there's the one Jimmy hates, the Lynx 3D. I got two and they work fine, BUT, I may get a CRX, SRX, whichever has the 20 model memory.

NCSpeedRacer

Thanks for the input - just ordered a 3pk with pcm reciever - should be at LHS by Monday. I can probably use the cool steering wheel off my other radio. Can't wait to drive without glitching issues. Glitching has ruined too many races for me so I said screw it - I'm buying new radio. I couldn't hardly even run my main at the shootout because my car was basically out of control for most of the run.

Merry Christmas everybody !!!!!!!!!

yeah ron you're right! haven't been to the wood in like...forever. getting a sitter, and work,& blah blah blah.......it all made it tough! then getting there and being half-a$$ed prepared wasn't cool neigther. you know my story...running gas foams..using home brewed oderless goop...having a jacked-up body (HPI Netz- Castrol Altezza for instance :o ). and that $20 duratrax speedo! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? ARE YOU OUTTA YOUR MIND!?!?! (QUOTE: The Don...from sharktale). and don't get me started on radio and batt-tries. (UGH!) next time will be different. ;)

bill...i hear ya on the radio thing! i HAD to get me a new one! but my problem wasn't realy about the glitches.....my main problem was radio conflicts. a lot of times i'd go there with only like 1 or 2 sets of crystals (cause i couldn't find any on my band). practice was a nightmare because no-one had extra crystals to help me out. so i'd get 20 to 25 minutes total on the car before the heats. then with NO_ONE on my channel...my car decides it's wants to find this one special place on th track to glitch. . that's why i HAD to up my Tx program! my radio aint spectra-sized but it's syn-tha-sized, and thus far it's been the best move i've made. ;)
good luck...Pete

JimmyMac
12-21-2005, 08:29 PM
Buying a new radio will not solve glitching problems..... Of course it may help some if it was indeed the radio. Bad motor caps, bad wiring, bad electronics layout, not using the correct amount of servo tape under receiver, weak radio batteries, bad/damaged (from too much crashing) crystals, etc, etc will cause glitching too.

Spektrum has solved all my glitching problems..... :D

nomac
12-21-2005, 08:45 PM
everything was intact...system was just outdated. i could've had everything re-tuned or better yet...have my Tx sent in to be converted to spectra. their brand of radio looks a lot like what i used to run...only silver.:D
but ya gotta admit...sometimes newer is just plain better.;)

Hey all. Just wanted to introduce myself. My names Mike and my gracious wife just bought me a TC4 for Christmas and I WANT to race it. I live in Raleigh and was at Hobby Masters picking up some parts New Years eve and spoke to someone(can't remeber his name) who told me to post on here. As far as whats on the car I have a Spektrum DX3 controller, and a Novak SS+ ESC w/ 5800 brushless motor. It is not a Factory Team version with graphite but it is the kit form. I wanted it to drift with it so the graphite chassis was out of the question. I will wind up upgrading to all Team stuff minus the chassis. With the brushless its plenty fast so the extra weight loss isn't a huge concern. Anyhow let me know whats going on and when you all run and I'll start meeting up.

jtn
01-01-2006, 10:52 AM
Hey Mike. We look forward to seeing you out at the track. Should be early spring when we start-up again. In the mean time, if you want to get started racing, a lot of the guys who normally run at Durham race at Rosewood(indoors) in the winter.
You will need to change to a regular ESC and stock motor to run though. But, come on out and we will help you out anyway we can.

alright Trrac members, its getting about that time to start thinking about working on the track some for the upcoming asphalt season. I know its a few months away, but it would be nice to get all the dirt out and get some more cleanup done around the track. Also i think we need to look at getting a grid painted so you can just pull up to your spotting position and everyone is ready to go. After the success we had last year in such a short period i think this year should be even better. Hopefully we can get a big race planned and draw alot of racers.

Right Anthony, on here I asked "Tom" if he was protecting "Brad" as in Brad Allen. As for the RCTech comments. Just look under the Express thread. You remember the picture where Tag made it look like the stock motor was on fire... well I commented on "Mindblown" because "Brad" as in Brad Davis? (I think thats your last name) used to break in motors and he'd give them back to use flaming hot. Hence the "inside joke".

But anyways... good to see "Brad" aka Kartrun back. Last time you posted.. or that I heard you were sponsored by Fusion Batteries, Team Losi, and building motors for Trinity. But you never came out to race with us.. Whats up with that?! I was looking forward to rubbing some paint with ya. Hey Tom, do you still have the list of everyone's email address? If so, can you email everyone. I suspect that some members do not read this board or at least do not read it all the time. Thanks - John

For both Rosewood and Durham, the stock gearing that comes with the NTC3 is what you need to run.

Mark do you still have that 05?Wanna get rid of it or better yet know where any ntc3 at a good price? This electric is getting out of hand.New car every month, new batteries and motors every day.Just seems to be getting more and more of a money game.Where as nitro it stays pretty much the same.

Hype I'm going to keep my old car for a back up.
Not sure where you can find a NTC3 right now I would prob. just buy a new one that way you are starting out fresh.
